Chapter Sixteen

D is for Danger and Destruction.

Dean looked down at the math quiz in front of him the page was blank and there was only 3minutes left to answer 50 questions, he was no doubt going to end up with a big F and face the facts he’d flunked a unit. But when your mind is in a tizzy you can’t really think rationally and I guess that’s why you don’t end up studying and know nothing about the quiz in front of you.

Sadly all Dean could think of was two people in particular, one his girlfriend Clara and two the Girl from Brooklyn Tessa.

They were two very different people but Dean knew something about one of them that was going to rock their world and turn it inside out. The Fact was simple he knew Brooklyn Girl was Clara’s cousin, just the mention of her name has flicked a light bulb in his head on.

But the thing was Dean knew Tessa’s identity wasn’t a good thing, she was innocent and far from the cries of typical Upper East side quality. She was pure and something like being Upper East side royalty could ruin that.

He didn’t want her to be like Clara, there was something about her that made him think the world was different off this island. And for that reason he couldn’t get her out of his head and most likely was going to flank this part of his math class.

He vaguely got the point he was sitting on a dangerous time bomb, especially with what had happened at the pizza place. He still reeled at how he’d reacted, it seemed a few days later partially over reactive.

But he was still uneased about why hadn’t Clara found out yet, he’d been preparing for the aftermath of being seen in public with another girl and it hadn’t happened. He wondered if it had to do with the fact Clara still wasn’t talking to him or something entirely different.

I guess the fireworks were about to begin now, Clara Maine was headed his way her two sidekicks in toe.

Nothing seemed out of the ordinary but Clara did take the time in her pace to stop and make a scene. “I know about her and fine if you want to date other people just because I don’t want to have sex with you then so be it, but I’m not that kind of girl. I always thought you weren’t like that, but obviously you proved me wrong. Bravo by the way, but keep your Brooklyn trash off my island!” She’d shoved the photo I’d taken in front of him and he looked down and then back at her on her final words.

“Clara it’s not what you think, if you let me explain...”

She cut him off “There is nothing to explain, its obvious your a man whore!” She stormed off with her sidekicks in toe.

Dean was left dealing with the whole junior class hallway’s eyes all glued on him, the word ‘man whore’ playing on his mind.

It wasn’t like that, but now everyone was into believing their queen and not him, he realised now he’d only held status this long because he dated the queen now he was back at the bottom of the food chain.

The bell rang out loudly and everyone else scuffled off, but Dean stayed rooted to the spot. His mind had gone into over drive and seeing Head Mistress Hefferton showing Tessa and what can only be described as her look alike mother, who was an exact clone of Clara’s mother made his head want to explode!

Tessa smile at him and Dean smiled back, but the hairs on the back of his neck stuck up. He knew he was going to be in a social mine field when Clara found out his supposed new girlfriend who by the way she’d referred to as ‘Brooklyn trash’ was going to be attending here.

Minor destruction had happened now, but Dean felt the climate around him was about to go into danger mode and the worst case was going to be a toxic melt down.

Alarm bells were ringing on high and the only thing left to do was take cover!
