I couldn't believe my eyes. I'm staying over at the Ryan Selow's freaking house for a freaking year!!!! OMFG! I'm staying at his house. Whoa, Kelly calm yourself down! I took a deep breath and waved as calmly as I could at him, but by the look on his face, I probably looked like a nervous wreck. I barely heard as their mom introduced herself to me as Hannah, but I did and it snapped me back to reality.
Ryan narrowed his eyes at me, a judging look on his face, "Aren't you Hillary's best friend? Uh... The stupid one?" His mom's face contorted, like from a smile to something like a demented look, "Ryan. Didn't we talk about manners?" she asked him slowly. Ryan turned toward his mom and tried to defend himself before he got into any more trouble, "No, mom. She's in the bottom fifty at school", he told her, as if that redeemed him. "Oh, dear", Hannah said worried, her face back to normal. I rubbed the back of my neck and bit my bottom lip out of habit. I really have to break that habit.
Kevin turned to me, "You must be really stupid if you're in the bottom fifty". I would have started crying right there if Marcus hadn't come in between and said, "That's enough, boys. Apologize to our guest right now". Both Ryan and Kevin apologized as quickly and unfeelingly as they could, and walked off. "Let me escort you to your room Kelly", Hannah told me, grabbing my arm. Marcus picked up my two small bags that I had brought with me and followed closely behind Hannah and me.
We walked up the spiral staircase and walked down a hall that was so clean and amazing, that I had an urge to stop and memorize the design patterns. You know, since I'm an artist and all, I love to draw exquisite things. Which literally means that Ryan's face is printed all over my sketch books in many artistic ways. Like, him kissing me, for instance. Hannah stopped in front of a door and unlocked it. It was dark when we walked in, so dark that I couldn't see my own hand from in front of my face. With a clap of her hands, Hannah had managed to turn on the lights and leave me in shock. She really is amazing.
"Whoa! This is huge", I said turning around to get a better look at things. It was a huge room. The whole thing was painted purple and white (so happy they didn't paint it pink), and there was a huge bed in the middle of it all, with some drawers and a nightstand. There was also one of those mannequin thingies that rich girls in movies used to see how their next outfits would look on them. I've always wanted one of those.
"Do you like it?", both Hannah and Marcus asked me at the same time, exchanging worried glances. I turned to them with a huge smile on my face and gestured to me and then to the room. "Me, like it?" I laughed hysterically, "I absolutely love it! This room alone could fit two of my bedrooms! And I have my own bathroom too?" I asked them, turning back to face them, ever so slightly. They smiled and nodded. "Wow you guys have no idea what this means to me!" Marcus smiled, "We welcome you to our home Kelly with open arms", and he walk out of the room, leaving Hannah and me. "I'm glad you like it, she told me smiling, "And I'm so very sorry about the boys. They value brains more than manners", I shrugged, "It's okay. I get it. No need to apologize for them". I thought of Ryan, with his dirty blonde hair and Colgate smile. No matter what he did, I'm not sure I would ever stop liking him.
"So, where are the rest of your bags?" she asked staring at the two small black bags Marcus had left on the floor. I adjusted my glasses and crossed my arms across my chest. "Um... That's all of my clothes and stuff. I only own like, three pairs of sneakers so..." Hannah began to laugh, like really hard, and I stood there staring awkwardly at her while she did. "Whoo", she said wiping at the corners of her eyes, "Wow, you sure are the funny one. But seriously", she kicked one of the bag softly with her right foot, "Where are the rest of your clothes?" I shrugged, and looked at Hannah, whose smile was fading really slowly, "No, seriously. That bag", I said pointing at the medium sized one, "Is filled with all of my clothes and the other one is filled with my art supplies, sketchbooks, books, and scrunches. And other things, but those are the basics".
Hannah looked seriously taken aback, "That.... Those are all of your clothes?" She put her hands on her chest, "Sweetheart, I am so sorry! Don't worry", she said, pinching the bridge of her nose, "I will take you shopping with me tomorrow when you come back home from school". I smiled and adjusted my glasses, "Thank you, but I didn't really bring enough money with me to go shopping". The fact is, I was broke as hell, but she didn't have to know that. Hannah smiled a motherly smile, "I'm gonna pay for everything honey! You don't know how long it has been since I've had a girl under this roof. Believe me, you're doing me a favor". I started to speak, but she shushed me. "You're doing me a favor. Now go to sleep! I bet you're really tired already". She walked out of my room before I could even thank her.
Once she left, I picked up the bag that was filled with my clothes, and emptied them into my drawers. I then took my bag filled with my belongings and started to decorate my bedroom, making sure to place my not used yet/extra sketch books in my new closet and to put the one I was using, on my nightstand. I then changed into my nightgown and lied down on the bed.
Wow, it is so soft! I grabbed my phone and texted a quick, 'I love you' to my dad and a 'Need to talk to you' to Hillary. I then set my alarm and went to sleep in my big new room. Oh, now I know how rich people feel.
