Nine

I woke up with a smile on my face. I've only been on Tosetti for five days and I made more friends then I ever had when I was on Tiamat. I felt something heavy over my stomach and I looked to find Killian curled up beside me, a small smile etched into his features as he slept.

Ty-nine silently rolled around my room impatiently. I couldn't help but giggle at the droid. He's been cooped in the apartment for almost a week when he was used to being in the forest each and every day for the past three years.

Killian began to stir, nuzzling into my neck, tickling my skin.

"Morning," he mumbled against my skin.

"When did you come in last night?" I asked, playing with his hair.

"Around three in the morning. I wasn't sleeping well," he said, pulling me closer to him.

"Another bad dream?" I asked.

"Yeah," he replied.

I frowned slightly and kissed his forehead, causing him to smile.

"You should stay in my room," Killian said, catching me off guard.

"If you want me to," I said, quietly.

"It would mean a lot to me," he said.

"It's no problem, Killian," I said.

"Do you want to go to the park today? We could take Ty-nine," he suggested.

"Sounds like fun. Just let me get dressed," I said, sitting up and pulling the covers off my body.

"I'll be back," he said, kissing my cheek and leaving the room.

I walked over to my dresser and pulled out a wool, long-sleeve dress that ended at my knees and a pair of thick leggings. Despite the planet's hot temperature, this city replicated every season that other planets had. I quickly got dressed and took my hair out of its braid. When I brushed out my hair, I pulled it up into a high ponytail with a small fishtail braid. After pulling on a pair of black leather boots, I headed out into the kitchen where Killian was cooking French toast.

"Smells delicious," I said, walking up to him.

"Thank you," he said, placing a kiss on my forehead.

He served up two slices of the toast and handed a plate to me. I quickly gobbled down my food and placed the dishes into the dishwasher. I skipped into the bathroom and brushed my teeth and pinned down all the strands of hair that had come loose during breakfast. I found Ty-nine waiting by the front door, letting out several beeps and whistles.

"Yes, Ty, we're going out and you can come along," I said, translating everything he had just said.

"Ready to go?" Killian asked, walking up to me.

"I am," I answered.

"Good. Let's go," he said, grabbing my hand and leading me out of the apartment with Ty-nine close on our heels.

Once we got my droid into the back of the cruiser, Killian and I climbed into the front seats before driving off. Killian to the roof off the top of the cruiser, allowing the cool autumn breeze to blow through our hair. I looked down at the cruisers below us as they speed off to their destination.

The ride to the park took about half an hour, but the distance was worth it. Beautiful trees stood tall, their leaves turning a golden colour. Swings and benches were scattered in different areas of the park, most of them occupied by children and their parents.

"I've never been to a park," I told Killian as we walked up to a picnic table.

"Really, I'll have to show you all the best parts of this park," he said, setting a backpack down on the table.
