Chapter 2

“Would you like some breakfast before school Lola?” My mum popped her head through my door.

“No thanks mum, I'm not really hungry.” I replied simply.

It's hard being alone now, without Ash. I mean, I do get along with my parents, more than Ash did. But after what happened, it's just hard to talk to them about it. I can't help but think that they are only starting to really care about him just because he's gone.

After seeing Nathan yesterday, I can honestly say that I do feel a bit better. I guess this is my way of grieving though, isolating myself and blocking out everyone.

But Nathan is right, I do need to let people in, just not him. I can't risk Nathan getting hurt again, I almost lost him once. So I will shut him out, completely. He knows how I feel now, and I know how he feels. But love is dangerous, it can't be forgotten, but it can be avoided.

JAY'S POV

It's the first day back, as I entered the school I spotted the group near the lockers. All the other students were staring at us, obviously hearing about what happened. I approached the group and I knew Lola wasn't going to be with us, she has been pretty distant lately, and I don't blame her. At the funeral, I felt really bad for her. I wanted so badly to go and sit next to her on that bench but I knew it was just best to leave her alone.

I don't completely agree with Nathan trying to get Lola to let her in. In my opinion, Lola should be looking for comfort from Darsee, Max or Tahnee since she's know them the longest. Then she should go back to Nathan when she's ready. But I do respect Nathan for trying, he loves her more than anything, I commend him for not giving up. I look over to Nathan, he has his head down, not saying a word, very unlike him.

I snap myself out of my thoughts and try to join in with what the group is discussing, but I am distracted by Lola about to enter the front doors.

“Hey guys look.” I tell the group and point towards the doors, they stop their light conversation to look.

Lola walks into the school and nearly every student walking in the lobby area stop and stare at her. She looks around at everyone, frightened, as if she has just been confronted by a group of bears or something. I feel so so bad for her, she deserves some respect. Her brother was quite well known for having a 'bad boy' image, but people never really knew why.

In fact,we haven't actually found out the story behind Jake, Lola and her brother. All we know is that Jake is a psycho ex, who I suppose had some what of a conflict with Ash. The worrying part is that Jake is still out there. I mean, who knows who he will hurt next. Heck, he started to beat me up just because I refused to tell him where Lola was. I mean, he was smoking a joint, and his friends were in hoodies. I don't trust people smoking weed in hoodies.

The only reason I snuck out the dance was to quickly find another corsage for Dallas. The one I bought for her, well, it got squashed. I left it on my bed and I guess I accidentally sat on it. I really like her, I haven't told anyone though. I wish I had never left to go find a flower shop, it's all my fault.

Lola began walking through everyone towards her locker, as she reached our group she stopped walking for about a second and looked at us all. She looked like she was about to say something, but she left it and kept walking.

“We have to talk to her, she needs us.” Tahnee broke the silence.

“Yeah, we will have to take it slow though, we can't all just go and interrogate her at once.” Liam said.

“No, no first we need to get Jake. Lola isn't safe, God none of us are. I mean, what if he gets to Lola,she's on her own now, she's at her most vulnerable.” Nathan sighed and walked away.

He reached his locker, and of course his locker is next to Lola's. Lola looked at him, sadness clear in her eyes. They made eye contact for about 5 seconds before Nathan walked away. We needed the old Lola back, so Nathan can be the same, and so our group can go back to normal.

This seemingly easy task is easier said than done.

So Jay likes Dallas but no one knows and that's why he left the dance, to get her another corsage! And the group thinks Lola needs them and Lola thinks that her group doesn't need her. All so confusing! And theres lots of tension between Lola and Nathan! I want a ship name for them two and I need your help. I was thinking, Lathan, Nola, Lothan.

Weird.
