Holly shivered in the corner that night, clutching the second item like it was her only survival.

The door slowly opened but she did not even open her eyes, just chatter her teeth as she shook.

"Holly?" A voice whispered. "Holly. Wake up."

Holly finally opened her eyes to see a maid - her name was Patricia -holding a fresh bowl of hot chicken soup. "Don't tell Miss. Grassnog I'm doing this." She offered the bowl to Holly and she took it, sipping it eagerly.

"T-t-thank yo-you." She shivered.

"Here's a hot towel, I'm going to sneak back up in twenty minutes to get it back okay? Hide it if Grassnog comes in; I'll pray for you Holly."

Holly nodded when Patricia took the empty bowl back downstairs, checking to lock the door.

Thunder suddenly shook the house, making Holly jump and drop the item. She looked down at it, it was hanging on a hook in a hole in the floor. The whole lead to the kitchen. Holly crawled over to the hole slowly as possible, looking down it.

A spaghetti bowl was sitting there, unattended. Voices from the kitchen echoing into the attic.

"....and give this bowl to Miss. Grassnog because...."

"Well maybe you should...."

"....she'll get you fired!"

"Don't care, not my problem."

"Maids!" Miss. Grassnog yelled from her room.

Footsteps climbing up the stairs disappeared into the girls' second room, the opposite room of Holly's. Holly reached down for the second item she had kept secret from Miss. Grassnog.

"Don't...fall...stupid–NECKLACE!" Holly scooted forward to reach the item that had fallen off the hook, but slipped away easily into the spaghetti bowl. "Shit!"

One of the maids picked up the bowl, not noticing what had just fallen into it, and carried it to Miss. Grassnog's room down the hall.

If she finds it, she'll sell it and I'll never get it back! Holly held back the tears as thunder rolled again and again against the sky.

She started to let the tears fall, when a loud, cut-off scream filled the orphanage. Voices from the kitchen and both girls' rooms filled with chatter, a few laughs.

"WHERE IS SHE?" Grassnog scream-yelled and stormed out of her room holding the item that was covered in spaghetti sauce.

"Who?" One of the maids asked confused.

"HOLLY KINGSBURY!"

"But Miss—"

"GET her out, or your FIRED!!"

Holly stood up and stared at the door, awaiting all maids to yell at her and kick her out. This is it, she thought, my escape. At least she wants me out.

Patricia was the one who opened the door, "I'm Sorry," she mouthed. Holly could see all of her orphan friends staring wide-eyed and scared, but before anyone knew it, Holly burst past the maids and the other Orphans, furious Miss. Grassnog, and out the door in the cold, beating rain.

"STOP HER! STOP HER!" Grassnog screamed.

"BUH bye, Miss. Grass-SNOT!" Holly yelled at her than ran down the street in a t-shirt, old pants, and barefoot.

Holly sat down behind the bluish-brown trashcan behind the McDonalds building, hearing all the laughs from inside. The back door opened and an employee with blonde hair and a greasy apron walked out with a bag filled with trash, but froze and walked back inside backwards.

He came back outside again holding something behind his back, "Hey kid, how are you?"

Holly stared at him with a dirty look.

"I'm Zachary, what's your name?"

Holly looked back at him with her brows knitted together. "Jacey. Jacey Palamo."

"So Jacey what are you doin' behind here?"

"On an adventure."

"Where to?"

Police sirens sounded down the street and seemed to be getting closer. "To paradise."

"Where's paradise?"

The sirens hurt Holly's ears so bad, that she couldn't hear anything. "I'll show you!" She got up and punched the employee and ran into the woods strait ahead.

"Kid wait! We're here to help!" A policeman yelled as they chased her.

She kept running even though they were surrounding her and she was out of breath, her legs weak. The forest ended and a KMart came into view, she rushed inside passing the shoe section and grabbing combat boots that was next to the Converse, which fell to the ground.

When she turned the corner the teen clothing was there and she ran into the circle rack and tried calming her breathing so they wouldn't hear.

"Keep looking, She couldn't have just disappeared! We need to get that kid and get her to the station!"

Holly peeked out as a policewoman walked by, and into the adult clothing. She checked around and no one else was there. She looked at the size of the combat boots, and luckily, they were her size.

She took a shirt her size and removed the one she was wearing and slipped the new one on. She peeked around again and slipped into the circle rack that had jeans. Taking her size once again, she slipped the new ones on and tied the combat boots up.

Holly poked her head up slowly, dodging the bars connected to the rack and saw no one there. She slipped out and grabbed a nearby shopping cart, wheeling it to the baby section.

"Stupid hair," she murmured tiring it up into a bun as another policewoman walked passed her.

"Hey," she woman said putting away her taser and keeping one hand on it. "Whatcha doin' in the baby section? Did ya boyfriend get ya pregnant?"

"No."

"Oh?"

"Yeah, my friend's mother is having a baby shower."

"Cool, what's yer name?"

"Anastasia Walker."

"Oh. Have you seen a kid about your size? Holding converse shoes and runnin aroun?"

"Yeah, I saw her go to the furniture section going under beds. Then ran off."

"Off to were?"

"Toward the doors."

"Great," she leaned into the walkie talkie, "Jacey kid got out."

"Really?" A scratchy voice responded. "Damn it! Let's go."

The woman started walking toward the doors, more cops joining her from random aisles.

Now, Holly thought, time to get outta this state.
