At first it was just a fight between two gang boys fighting over a girl and then it all turned into a total chaos where everyone threw themselves at each other. The worst part was that nearly everyone was drunk or just plain violent. I saw Giselle standing on the bar, telling people to calm down, but then she got off and started punching people in the face. ‘Way to go, Giselle’ I thought, guessing she had just got fed up with the fact that people were fighting for no reason.
She made her way to me and rested her back on the way. She looked as if she just ran a marathon, just that the rules included that you could punch someone in the face multiple times. In my head that didn’t sound that cool. Imagine turning on your TV to watch the Olympic Games and you suddenly see all the competitors punching and kicking each other. I just shivered at the thought. One thing was a sport were you’re supposed to fight or defend yourself but just thinking of all the competitors from different sports like that, it’s just illogical.
“What was that all about?” she asked. Now I felt guilty, after all I was the one who started the fight, if you looked at it from one point of view. James kissed me and then my cousin came, they started talking and suddenly, it all comes crashing on me.
Giselle didn’t even wait for my answer for my cousin started shouting at James. Their faces were both bruised and I could even notice the blood which dripped from their mouths. They both looked tired, angry and beaten up. My cousin looked worse of both of them, he looked at me with no emotion, I frowned, realising something. My cousin was fighting for me or because of me with another person and not me, to tell the truth I was the only one in the whole place who was unharmed.
“How was I supposed to know she was your cousin!” James shouted back. If you asked me, this was the most idiotic reason to fight over a girl, I even hate it when boys fight over a girl because one kissed their girlfriend, it’s just plain stupid.
Giselle looked at me and nodded her head probably understanding why they were “killing” each other now. She took my hand and dragged me out of the house. My phone started ringing and I saw the screen light up with an unknown number. Giselle frowned whilst I pressed the answer button.
“Hello?” I asked, usually I would just drop the call if it was unknown but something just made me answer the call this time.
“Officer Smith speaking, is this Jessica Nikolayevna Andrew?” the voice asked, I gulped this was not good. It was about my parents, just thinking about them made me cry. I felt so weak right now, I couldn’t even answer his question.
“We’ve found your parents were murdered, we’re sorry about the loss, however you don’t have any relatives, willing to take you in or legal guardians so I’m afraid you’ll have to go to an orphanage” I turned off the call when he said ‘orphanage’ and no relatives willing to take me in? Hell that wasn’t Officer Smith at all, I knew the real Officer Smith he was my dad’s best friend and that certainly wasn’t his voice. Then that would mean that someone was trying to get rid of me, because from what I’ve heard the orphanage is like a bloody damn prison. Giselle seemed to be listening to the conversation too because her face showed one of pity.
“What about your brother?” she asked. My brother was never noticed in my family, probably because he never lived up to our parents expectations. Whenever I said his name to my mother she walked away and my father would just give me a lecture about not being a delinquent or he would just change the subject. I never got to know what he did so wrong and I don’t think I would care, he is my brother after all and he has cancer.
“He’s in hospital” my voice cracked when I said hospital, I was supposed to go and visit him tomorrow but I had no idea how I would manage to go and see him with all that’s been going on. Giselle nodded, but then she frowned.
