Lieutenant Morrison and the World of Randomness

Chapter 1- Lieutenant Morrison

Airborne, ranger, two years in Iraq, 1st Lt. All of that made Steve Morrison proud of who he was. Nobody really even knew why Steve joined the army, after all he was a rich, socially accepted straight A student. Even so, he decided to join.

Even though he could have become a cyber warfare specialist or something like that Steve decided to join the infantry as a cadet. Some say he wanted to be a hero, have an adventure and serve his country. Others believe he simply wanted to exit a helicopter in midair. The real reason was probably somewhere in between.

With his epic skills Steve quickly climbed up the promotion ladder as well as passed through airborne, air assault, special forces and ranger school- he did as much as he could. He soon became respected by practically everyone in his battalion without even mentioning the fact that he earned the medal of honor while deployed in Iraq.

As a sergeant Steve was separated from his unit. He managed to fight of an assault on his own position sending six terrorists to hell along the way. Right after that he headed into an alley which he hoped would take him towards his squad. He didn't go very far until he encountered more Taliban troops, this time it was a machinegun crew sitting back having a conversation- it didn't last very long. The machinegun was now in Steve's hands- now he just had to find his squad.

He climbed up the sides of one of the buildings to get a better view of the surrounding area and there it was. In front of him lay a plaza swarming with Taliban troops and on the other side a small apartment complex in which his comrades where holed up and pinned down. As soon as he set up the machine gun the encounter turned into a massacre, easy shots left and right. Officially he took out 37 but some claim he took down a whole company.

Besides the medal of honor Steve also earned a promotion, a cash bonus and endless respect nationwide, although some haters on the internet always showed up somewhere to call him a murderer working for the evil greedy illuminati US government.

Now he was being deployed again- South Korea. Tensions between the North and South increased and some NATO units where now being deployed in newly built bases in case a conflict broke out. Once he arrived Steve was put in charge of a supply convoy heading for base 327, rumors also said he was going to be promoted to captain upon reaching the base. Steve however never reached the base- he was attacked...

"Lieutenant! This is Super five-three! Taking small arms fire from the right"

"Got it Joe, all units continue on course. Moose, mount the fifty! We'll hold them off here"

"yes sir! I'm on it!"

In the ensuing firefight the American machinegun managed to kill of most of the Koreans in the jungle but there didn't seem to be an end to the onslaught of dedicated Kim-Jon-Un fans.

"Lieutenant! There's too many of em', plus I need'a reloa-"

"Moose come in! Moose, you injured!"

Moose however took a clean hit to the neck- nothing could be done for him. Morrison jumped back inside the Humvee and stepped on the gas. He knew he needed to get back to his men, he couldn't do much more on his own.

"Super five-two come in, this is super five-one! Corporal Dennis McKinney Confirmed KIA, repeat Moose is dead!" Steve screamed with shock and anger. "Damn North Koreans, there's too many of them! I'd say they've got a whole battalion!"

"Lieutenant this is Super five-two over! stay clear of the main road, more North Korean elements tried to cut us off- they seemed to be part of some undercover infiltration unit. stay clear or you'll be killed, no way you'll break through! You're gonna' need'a hide somewhere sir cause the whole areas surrounded, we'll be sure to mount a rescue operation soon."

"Don't you worry sarge," Morrison said in a clearly panicked voice "remember I've got the medal of honor and I'm a ranger. I'll be fine! You boys better hurry up though or I'll make this deployment hell for all of you!"

"Of course sir, don't worry! We'll save you no matter what!"

"That's the spirit Bentley! Now get that convoy where it's supposed to be ASAP!"

Morrison took a left turn upon seeing a trail clear of trees in the nearby jungle, he was going to make these undertrained bastards pay for killing Moose. For now however he needed to find himself a base of operations. Steve's Humvee was filled with ammo, food, medications, explosives, spare tires and practically anything you could think of. There was even was a limited edition Darth Vader figure stuffed in there! This was a supply mission after all.

He soon however ran into something strange, a colorful light; something like a portal right in the middle of the road. He hit the brakes but it was too late- He went straight through it. The scenery changed completely, from the tropical environment of the Korean peninsula to a cool European climate. Was this heaven? No, it certainly wasn't cause Moose's dead body was still lying right next him. Steve was about to make a statement which would once again make us all question why he didn't go to the cyber warfare units, engineer units, science units or something like that.

"It seems as if this is a gate uses a certain ratio of dark and regular energy which interacts with a boson of some sorts which had not yet been discovered by science. This seems to form a wormhole-like structure. This is a real breakthrough in science and must be studied further!"

It almost seemed that Morrison had already forgotten about Moose being dead and about the entire war. Those where the emotions with which Steve said those words! However this wasn't really the case as right after that he walked towards the Humvee and pulled out some landmines. He set them up right at the entrance of the portal so if some Koreans come through the portal they'd be evaporated immediately.

"Well, now I need'a figure out where the hell I am!" said Morrison before proceeding with his newly formed plans.
