TuesdayIt's been three days since the accident. I'm being released from the hospital today. I have a cast on my arm and my ribs are still really sore. It's very painful to breath in but I try to be a man about it. Asha and Kevin are here to take me. They wheeled me out in a wheel chair as if my legs didn't work.
"Hey bro. Ready to go?" Asha asked. I looked at her wondering if she was for real. "Girl yes I'm ready to go. You think I like staying here" I said with a smirk on my face. She mushed me in the head a little as Kevin helped me in the car. I still can't believe my parents are dead. I was getting so many texts and calls from family that we didn't even communicate with that I had to turn my phone off.
"So you can have my bed for the first few weeks or so until your arm and ribs heal." I didn't want to feel like I was coming in and turning their lives upside down. "No it's cool. I'll chill on the couch." Asha wasn't taking no for an answer. She gave me the death stare until I finally gave in.

When we pulled up to the apartment complex it didn't look familiar at all. It was a whole brand new building. Much nicer than the one they were in before. "Kevin where are we?" He looked back and smiled. "We are at our new home. I knew with us being your sole care provider now we couldn't stay in that two bedroom." Asha had this look on her face like she knew about it the whole time. "I know the owner of the place and explained to him what happened. He let us have the first floor three bedroom for $150 cheaper a month. Remember that kids...never burn bridges cause you never know when you'll have to cross them again."
I nodded my head and got out the car. All my stuff except for a few clothes were still at home. We would have to sell the house due to us not being able to afford it. All of this was going to be new to me. Living without my parents, changing schools, living in a different city, making new friends. It was all so overwhelming.
"It's apartment 1B" Kevin said. I walked up to the door and smelled food. It smelled delicious. I opened the door to Kevin's girlfriend cooking a late breakfast. "This smells great!" I said trying to get a better look. She shooed me away and told me to go wash up. "Which one is my room?" I asked. She pointed to the door behind her. I opened it up and my room was decorated just like the one back home with ma and dad. I couldn't help myself. I started to cry. Ary came in and wrapped her arm around my shoulder. "You ok?" She asked me. I wiped my face and nodded my head. "Yea I'm cool. It's just a lot ya know. It's finally setting in that I don't have a mother or father anymore." She pulled me in for a tight hug and told me it would be ok.
Just then Kevin walked in and saw her hugging me. He laughed and said "Damn bro you trying to steal my lady?" I shook my head no and plopped down on my bed. It felt so good to be home. Kevin sat beside me and told me that he loved me. "I know" is all I could manage to say. I was very emotional at this point. We did our bro shake and he left me to wash up.
I went to the bathroom and cut on the shower. While the water was getting hot I powered my iPhone 6 Plus back on and was flooded with texts, voicemails, snapchats, Instagram posts..you name it I had it. There was one particular text that I was happy to see. It was from my baby Adira, which means strong, mighty and powerful and her best friend Devasha which means Honey. They had me in a group chat and they were cutting up.
Me: Hey babe & Dee. Y'all know y'all play too much right?
AD: Mmhm. I'm just glad you're ok. When can I see you?
Dee: Yea when can WE 😒 see you? I miss you light bright 😩. Fourth Block is boriiinnnng without you.
Me: Bae why you always mmhm'ing me? And Dee maybe now you will actually pay attn 😂😂.
AD: Boy I'll mmhm you if I want. And yea Devasha Serai 😂😂 your ass needs to pay attn in class. Alex her mom grounded her last week for four days because she didn't do her homework.
The two went on and on about how Dee got grounded. I did miss my two side kicks. They were the only friends I needed to be honest. By this time the water was hot enough so I hopped in and washed the hospital dirt off of me. I've been growing my hair out so I washed that and let it curl up.
When I was finally done I wrapped the towel around my waist and walked into the kitchen. They were already eating. Asha looked at me with wide eyes and said "when the fuck did you get abs?" I laughed because she was so shocked. I didn't answer her question and went straight to what I wanted to know..could my girlfriend and best friend come up for the weekend.
"Sis you're funny. Anyway Kev, Ary can my girlfriend and best friend visit for the weekend?"
Asha looked at me with disbelief again. "Girlfriend? When your ass get a girlfriend?" She was doing the most seriously. "I been had a girlfriend. We've been dating for like seven months now." She looked at Kevin and waited for his answer. "How old is this girl?" I gave him a half smirk and said "she's 17 and a senior. He nodded and leaned in to discuss with Asha and Ary. I went back to my room to dry off and get dressed because I was hungry as hell.
