Ary
It's only been a few hours since Kevin left for his job training in Florida. He'll be gone for a month so that leaves me to play mother. I don't see Alex being a problem, but it's Aasha that I'm worried about. She was in class right now and I was on my way to pick Alex up from school so he didn't have to ride the hot bus.
When I pulled up to the school he was standing outside with another kid. He looked like he was crying. Alex was trying his best to comfort him but looked like he didn't know how. I pulled into one of the visitors spots and got out.
"Hey is everything alright?" I asked looking at Alex and then at the kid. He quickly tried to wipe his tears away and fix himself up. "Some idiots beat him up today in gym and because no one 'saw' anything they won't get in trouble." I could see the anger in his eyes. He looked like he wanted to retaliate, scanning the crowd of kids for whoever did it.
"Hey come here real quick" Alex motioned at one of the kids. He scrunched his face up and walked over. He laughed as soon as he saw who he was. "Aww back to the rescue for your boyfriend?" Alex punched him in the nose. "He's not my boyfriend just a friend but if he was you obviously got the wrong one. Touch him again and I'll beat your fuckin ass."
I was in shock. I didn't know what to do and neither did the kid whose nose was now gushing with blood. "Y'all come on..NOW!" Alex grabbed the kid by the hand and rushed him to the truck. I sped off just in time because the school resource officer was running out.
"Thanks!" The kid said near tears again. Alex gave him a fist bump and told him it was no problem. I could tell it was more to it than just some stranger being bullied. I asked him what his name was and he told me it was Desmond. "Where do you live? Want me to take you home?"

Later That Night
Alex was laying on the couch with Samira watching ESPN when Aasha came in. She laughed and said "Dang lil bro you trying to take my girl?" He rolled his eyes and went to his room. Samira gave him a look questioning why she said that. Aasha shrugged her shoulders and went to her room. Samira got up and followed begin her closing the door.
Samira
"Babe why did you say that?" She laughed at my question not taking me seriously. I sucked my teeth already annoyed with her. "Your brother had a rough day at school today. Instead of joking him why don't you go talk to him?" Aasha threw her bookbag on the floor and plopped on the bed. "And please explain to me how I'm supposed to know he's in a bad mood? I just walked in the apartment. Don't start with that shit." She had me so fucked up right now. "I sent you a text. Didn't you get it?"
She tossed her phone on the bed. The screen was busted and cracked to pieces. She looked at me with irritation written all over her face. "There's your answer. Anymore questions?" I threw my hands up in surrender and went back to the living room.
Ary was in the kitchen cooking dinner. "Samira are you staying for dinner?" I looked down at my stomach as it growled back at me. I might as well being that I was hungry and didn't feel like picking anything up. "Yea sure. Need help with anything?" Ary's face spread with a smile. I guess nobody ever helped her cook. She looked tired so I came to the rescue. "Here mama let me handle this. You look tired." She stepped to the side as I fried the chicken and got the vegetables going. It wasn't anything major, but as much as I was over here it's the least I could do.

Once I was done with everything I fixed Ary's plate and went to check on Alex. I knocked on his door and didn't hear anything so I peeped my head in and saw him sleep. I leaned over and saw tear stains on his pillow. He had cried himself to sleep. I felt bad for the kid. He was hurting and no one cared.
I stormed to Aasha's room startling her. "Bruh what's wrong with you?" She had pissed me off for one day. I wrapped my hand around her face and squeezed it tight. "Your brother needs you. He cried himself to sleep. You need to go talk to him." She rolled her eyes jerking away from me. "Yea..you've lost your got damn mind. Don't ever put your hands on me again. Further more he's probably just in one of his moods."
I couldn't believe what she was saying. In one of his moods? So what if he was. At least care enough to find out. "You're sorry as shit. So what if he was just in one of his moods. Be a big sister and check on him anyway. That's how kids commit suicide, because no one shows their concern." I stormed back out of the room and back to his. He was now awake and scrolling through his phone. I sat on his bed beside him and comfortably waited in silence.
He finally looked at me and broke down. "I miss him. He was my fuckin patna man." I gave him a minute then asked who he was talking about. He cleared his throat and said "My best friend JC. He killed himself two years ago because he was being bullied for being gay. Seeing that kid being beat up today just brought back bad memories."
I rubbed his back and reassured him that it would be ok. I told him to let his friend know that he would always be there for him no matter what. He nodded his head and got himself together. "Now fix yourself up because I made fried chicken." His eyes lit up as he rushed to the kitchen. I was so mad at Aasha for not being there for her own blood. I don't know if she could come back from this. She had a lot of making up to do.
