The rain was pounding against the ground as I trudged my way along. My jacket was soaked and I could feel it seeping onto my clothes. I gave up trying to keep my hair dry and I pulled the damp curls into a messy bun and repositioned my school bag.

I heard a car engine and seen my crush of 4 years in the drivers seat laughing along with his friends. My heart leaped at the sight of his award winning smile but my heart was shot down after I seen the reason for the smile; her.

I knew that I couldn't be good enough for him but I always hoped I was. In some fictional world I made myself believe that I was good enough for him but in reality I wasn't.

I caught his eyes and he gave me a sad smile, most likely out of pity, and he sighed and sped up and out of sight. In that moment I knew I couldn't get him no matter how much I wanted him.

At that moment the ground shook from thunder and more rain pounded into the grass. I sniffled but didn't bother to wipe my tears for they would get mixed in with the rain anyway.

I pulled my jacket closer to me and finished my walk home.

"There's always other people."
