Adrien;
Still holding onto Marinette's hand, I guided her to the dance floor. Looking at her expression, I could tell she just made the connection. I winked before starting to dance with the others. Rolling her eyes, she gave in and started to sway to the sound of the music. About half an hour later I saw Marinette disappear from the crowd heading towards the living room. I tried to follow her when a pair of arms flew around my neck. Chloe hugged me tightly as she kissed me on the cheek.
"Happy Birthday Adrien, lets go dance"! Pushing her off gently I turned to face her.
"Thank you Chloe but I have to go do something right now". I smiled and headed off to the living room, leaving Chloe to throw a small tantrum.
I peaked my head around the corner to see Alya and Marinette talking together on the coach in front of me. I couldn't see their faces but I could tell that Alya was anxious about something. I walked in quietly and stood behind the girls.
"What might you two be up too". I asked, startling the two. In unison, they both jumped up and turned around to face me. For once Alya's face was redder than Marinettes.
"A-Adrien, how long have you been there". Marinette said, staring at me questioning.
"I just got here, what's wrong". The two giggled at my comment.
Marinette;
Looking behind Adrien, I spotted Nino approaching. "Nothing" I said, walking over to Adrien and wrapping my arm around his. Strolling over with two drinks, Nino smiled at our interconnected arms. Glancing at Alya, I knew what I had to do.
"We're going to leave you two alone". I said winking at my best friend. Turning around to face Nino, I smiled back. When Adrien realized that Nino was there, he smirked and playfully punched his arm.
Leaving the living room together, I tried to let go of Adriens arm. But he seemed to have a different plan. Grabbing my hand we walked back to the ballroom. My heart rate skyrocketed as I heard the start of a slow paced song. A tug on my arm had me stumbling into his chest. My head exploded with excitement, I couldn't believe it. I'm going to slow dance with Adrien! A breathless laugh escaped his lips as he helped me regain my footing.
Rocking back and forth to the music, my stomach was filled with butterflies.. We danced slowly together until the song ended. After that dance, I lost count of the number of songs we continued to dance to. It finally came to an end when Adrien and I were interrupted by Alya and Nino.
"Marinette look at the time"! Alya said, holding out her watch.
"Oh no, we have to go"! I said looking over to Adrien. "Happy Birthday".
"Where are you three going"? Adrien asked sadly.
"We are going to help Marinette parents with their bakery". Nino said, putting an arm around Alya. I couldn't help but smirk.
"Can I come too then? I'm pretty good at decorating" Adrien said.
"Y-Yeah, but what about your party"? I asked.
"They know where the door is, they'll be fine" he said, giving me a grin. I smiled,
"Alright, if the birthday boy wants to, then I guess he can come". I said winking back with surprising confidence. Together we walked outside to the sun hiding behind the clouds, the once warm, hot atmosphere had changed to a chiller night. A warm leather jacket fell onto Marinette's shoulders. It smelt like fresh fallen snow.
Adrien;
"Moma I'm home and I brought some help"! Marinette yelled as we stepped into her parents bakery. With a quick explanation and a wave goodbye, the two girls disappeared to change. I looked over to my best friend with an expectant face. "Did she say yes"? I asked. Nodding, he shook his head up and down with the biggest smile on his lips.
After a few minutes, the girls reappeared and we all wandered to the back of the store. Marinette picked up four aprons and handed one to each of us as we entered the kitchen.
"Today we are decorating and frosting cookies," Marinette said happily. Turning to face me, she gave me a cute smile. "Let's test those skills of yours Adrien".
"I won't let you down". I said, giving her a tap on the head.
I couldn't help but wonder how she's feeling. This isn't the first time I've been to her house but after knowing the truth about my identity, I wonder if her feelings have changed?
"Okay, how about we split up into two teams. The new adorable couple, do you two want to do the decorating or the frosting"? Marinette asked, looking at her friend.
"We'll do the decorating," Nino said.
Marinette's confidence seems to be blossoming. She hasn't stumbled on her words much tonight. I love seeing this side of her, however, I like the blushing Marinette side just as much.
If Alya and Nino are decorating that means me and Marionette are frosting. I've never frosted anything before, but she doesn't need to know that. Fake it, till you make it. Right?
"Okay, let's do this!" I said picking up a pipe full of green frosting. Marinette took a cookie off the cookie rack and placed it in front of me. Turning the pipe over, I squeezed the bag but nothing came out. Trying again I had no luck. I looked over at Marinette who had already frosted three cookies.
"Marinette, it's stuck". I said frantically. She giggled and leant in towards me to see what I was doing. Trying again, I squeezed it as hard as I could. A loud bang filled the air as the piping bag exploded. Marinette jerked back as her face was covered in green. Shocked, I quickly put down the bag and grabbed Marinette's face.
"Marinette I'm so sorry"! I said, trying to brush the frosting off of her. The air filled with noise as Nino and Alya toppled over into the ground laughing their heads off.
"Good job Adrien"! Nino blurted out. Marinette frowned, trying to wipe the frosting off. Noticing how cute she looked I had to mentally smack myself to focus.
"Let's go get you cleaned up".
