Chapter 7: Seeds of Upheaval

That night, Sanan ask Haruka to watch over him while he train outside, just swinging with his good right arm.

It was inspiring to Haruka to see Sanan have so much determination to get back on his feet.

Haruka smile with inspiration while gazing at Sanan.

As the next morning come, it was Okita and Saito's turn to cook.

Haruka was sparing with Harada and Nagakura outside the courtyard. Harada charge at Haruka; she swiftly dodges and strike.

Harada's spear went flying out of his hands and fell to the ground as he fell down on his buttock. "Ah! Whoa!"

Haruka swing her sword on her shoulder. "You let your guard down."

Nagakura took that moment to strike. Haruka quickly turn around and block the attack, and then she knees him in the stomach. Then she grabs his arm and flips him; he fell on Harada.

"Ow! Hey!" Harada shouted in pain.

"Sorry," Nagakura apologize as he groans in pain.

Haruka couldn't help but let out a hearty giggle with a cheerful expression.

"Bah!" Nagakura stand up and sheathe his swords with an irritated expression. "What's so funny?"

Haruka clear her throat, and her cheerful expression was replaced with a blank expression. "...Nothing." Haruka sheathe her sword.

Harada stand up and went to pick up his spear from the ground. "You have great speed, Haruka." Harada walk up to Haruka, and place his fingers on her chin. Then he gives her a sweet genuine smile, and asked, "Mind telling me your secret?"

Harada was hoping Haruka blush at his smile, but she didn't.

Haruka move Harada's hand away from her chin. "Simple; I've train for a long time while also focusing on increasing my speed." What Haruka said was half-truth. In her years of training to be a samurai, she was already fast enough. Of course, she's keeping secrets from the Shinsengumi. But even if she is to tell them of who she really is, they wouldn't even know how to comprehend the truth. The truth about Haruka would be unbelievable.

Nagakura crossed his arms. "Train for a long time while also focusing on increasing your speed eh..." Nagakura was interested in what Haruka said.

"That's it? Then, will you train me-" Harada was cut off.

"No."

Nagakura smiled. "Haruka, will you train me?"

An animesweatdrop appear on Haruka's head.

"No you don't! You're not manly enough take on Haruka's training," Harada challenges Nagakura.

Nagakura growled in anger, and place his forehead on Harada's forehead. "Oh yeah?!"

Harada push Nagakura's forehead with his. "Yeah!"

"Um, guys...?" Haruka tries to get the two young adults' attention.

"Hey, Shin, Sano, Haruka, breakfast is ready!" Heisuke announced.

What Heisuke said made the two young adults forget about their quarrel, exclaimed to Heisuke, "Okay!"
