Chapter 19: Examination

The next day, Chizuru tag along with Saito on patrol. Usually, Haruka would tag along whenever a captain and his group go on patrol, but she stays behind to think over things that happened over the past few weeks.

Haruka is just lying around in her room and thinking about the past events that occurred. Her elder brother involving himself with the Choshu, but it seems like he was just using them or something, and his only goal is to kidnap Chizuru. Then there was something else; Hajime Saito. For the past few weeks, Saito has been acting pretty strange. It's nothing suspicious or anything, but more like he is hiding his true feelings. There are times when Haruka think about Saito and her mind wander off to those piercing dark-blue eyes and how they glare at the man who try to force himself on her. To the fake Choshu leader, those eyes of the captain of 3rd Division feel like he could be killed with just one look. But what really bother Haruka more is the contact between her and the indigo captain.

Whenever the indigo captain made a slight skin contact with the petite blonde, he quickly retreated like his hand was touching fire. The indigo captain is thoughtful and always put others before him so he doesn't really speak out his feelings or thoughts to anyone, especially the petite blonde.

Haruka is good at reading others, but she does have her doubt. There are times when she second guesses herself because she doesn't have enough evidence.

All day, Haruka has been thinking about Saito and his unusual behavior towards her, trying to come up with a solution for why. The answers she can come up with are either she did something wrong, or...The other answer seems to be pointing at the possibility of some sort of attraction, possibly a romantic interest; the second answer can be proving from how protective of him when he sees her harm or violated. But, Haruka keeps having doubt. Sure, they are partners, but only sparring partners, and friends of course. Besides, the indigo captain never made his feelings clear, or ever speaks of it, causing the petite blonde to doubt. Then again, she is not sure about her own feelings. She only sees Saito as she usually does, but never thought about the possibility of falling for the captain of 3rd Division.

She even starts to question her feelings towards the late young lord of the Shiba Clan. Were her feelings for the late Hikaru Shiba romantic, or is it just admiration? Was it attention or kindness, maybe warmth, or a big brother she wanted from the late Hikaru Shiba? What about Saito? What kind of feelings does she harbor for the indigo captain? But then, there is the captain of 1st Division, Souji Okita; she loves him like a brother of course.

Haruka finally couldn't take it anymore from thinking too much and abruptly sit up, screaming, "Argh! This is so frustrating!"

Nagakura and Heisuke were just walking pass by Haruka's room when they hear her, stopping on their track right in front of the door that lead to her room.

"Whoa. Haruka is angry," Nagakura mentioned.

Heisuke look at Nagakura suspiciously. "Shin, you didn't do anything to upset Haruka, did you?"

Nagakura was caught off guard by the accusation. "What? Why would you assume it was me?"

"Well, you did steal that meat bun she was saving for later at dinner yesterday."

Nagakura look like he didn't do anything wrong. "I thought she wouldn't mind. I mean, sharing is caring, right? Besides, she didn't make a big deal about it."

Heisuke didn't look like he believes the captain of 2nd Division. "M-hm..."

Before Nagakura can even come up with a comeback, the door to Haruka's room was suddenly slide open, revealing a depressing petite blonde. Haruka was not in a good mood.
