Chapter 1: Michael's POV

I'm really tired of all of this. I just need to get away. My girlfriend cheated on me, my mom is a drug addict, my dad is an alcoholic, I'm failing most of my classes and I'm just done. Lucky for me, spring break is in a couple weeks.
-
Nobody at school respects me anymore. I used to be the captain of the football team, the jock, the popular guy. But ever since my ex told the whole school about that one night, I was kicked off the team and everyone hates me. I've become the "fake" of the school.
We used to be the "couple of the school", you know, captain of the football team dating the most liked cheerleader. People would come to football games with signs that said "milee is goals". I remember one time this guy took off his shirt and had "Milee af" painted on his chest. It was weird.
I've turned from being the loud, annoying one that everyone finds funny, to the kid who sits silently in the back of the class with their earbuds in.
-
Eighth period, I can almost go home. My thoughts stopped when I see her walk in. Kylee. Ugh she's such a bitch, cheated on me with my own cousin.
"Come on Mikey!! The line isn't getting any shorter!!" She takes my hand and drags me through the sea of people. This is the moment I've been waiting for, our first date.
I was inturupted by a deep, raspy voice. "Thinkin' 'bout how your girl left ya huh?" The smell of tobacco rolled off his lips. "Shut the fuck up Brandon" I mumbled, tired of his games.
Everyday he taunts me about something, whether its the way my hair looks or the cologne I'm wearing, it never stops. "You know Michael, if you wouldn't have done anything that night-" I cut him off and raised my voice, "None of it would've even happened if Kylee wasn't so concerned about me!"
Suddenly the whole class got silent and looked at me. I just got up, and walked out, not saying a word to anyone.
I stormed out of that school so fast. Administration was chasing me but I didn't stop. Once I went out the front door I started running, I ran all the way home. I hate my life. I just need everyone to leave me alone. A whole week to myself, that's all I want. But I can't get that for another week.
I finally got to my neighborhood. I stopped running, I'm safe now. I turned onto my street and there wasn't a car in my driveway. Good, they aren't home. I got the key from under the brick on the side of the house and went inside.
As soon as I walked in the door I threw my backpack on the couch and went upstairs to my room.
I sat on my bed with my ear buds in listening to All Time Low, one of my favorite bands.
*6 hours later*
I look at my clock, 10:23 pm. It's hard to sleep after everything that has happened in the past 3 months. No matter how hard I try to forget that night, the flashbacks just won't go away.
