Chapter 5

Lucas's POV:
I unlocked the door to my house, opening the front door.

I walked in and put all my stuff on the kitchen table.

Since it was after school, my younger sister and parents weren't here since they had work and school.

I grabbed my phone out of my pocket to see a text from Riley.

She was supposed to come over later but she had to go by her house first.

I started walking towards my bedroom when I saw someone jump in front of me.

"Lucas! They shouted.

I jumped, not really expecting anyone to be here.

It was my younger sister, Clara.

Clara was laughing as she knew that she had scared me and I looked at her.

"What are you doing here?"

"I got sent home because I bit a kid in my class."

Only in 1st grade do they send kids home for doing that.

"So mom is here?" I asked.

She nodded. "Yeah. But she's busy, so don't bother her or else she'll yell.

I rolled my eyes a little and walked past her, going towards my moms office.

She works at home since she had Clara six years ago and I guess she never stopped.

I knocked on her door and then went in. "Hey mom."

She was working on the computer as she looked up. "Oh hey Lucas, how was school?"

"Fine. So hey, I was wondering if Riley could come over later?" I said, changing the subject quickly.

She just shrugged. "Sure but you have to watch Clara."

I blinked. "Why?"

"Your father and I are going out tonight."

"You guys could've told me this sooner." I said.

Her phone suddenly rang and she picked up, "hello?"

I walked out her office to see Clara behind me. "You and your girlfriend are watching me? Gross." She made a face.

I smiled. "Yes."

I took my phone out of my pocket to call Riley.

I probably should warn her what was happening tonight.

Maya's POV:
"I really don't want to go." I said into the phone.

"You think I want to go as much as you?"

I sighed, pacing my room. "I'm sorry for ignoring you on the walk home. I've just had a lot on my mind."

"It's okay. Lighten up, it's fall break."

I was talking to Farkle over the phone about the trip to Texas.

"So are you going to Lucas's on Sunday?" He asked me.

"Do I really have a choice?" I said.

"I guess not."

I heard a buzz come from my phone and I looked down.

"Uhh hey, someone else is calling me. I'll talk to you later."

"Okay bye."

After he said that, I hung up and picked up the other line. "Hello?"

"Hey Maya."

I sat on my bed. "Oh hi Riley."

I was surprised to hear from her, especially out of school.

We never even talk anymore.

"So what's up?" I said, after a moment of awkward silence.

I heard Riley sigh. "I have to go to Lucas's house and watch his little sister."

I tried not to laugh, but I couldn't help it.

"Okay, and you're upset why?"

"It's just weird! I've never really been to his house. I thought we were going out tonight or something."

Of course Riley was calling me about Lucas, I wasn't really surprised.

"So do you think you can come over with me?"

I raised my eyebrows. "Are you serious?"

"Yeah."

I looked over at my desk, seeing a picture of me and Riley when we were younger.

Before all this boyfriend stuff had happened.

I was just too nice to say no even though it was...Lucas.

"Yeah sure...i'll be right over to pick you up."

I hung up the phone and threw my shoes back on.

I don't know what I was getting myself into, hanging out with Riley, Lucas and his younger sister.
