((Begin session))
Judge: Attention, attention... Order, ORDER!
((Court grows quiet.))
Judge: Now... Ms. Stone is here for a report of societal defiance, correct?
NEO George Flingo: Correct.
Judge: That's all I see listed, are there any additional details?
Flingo: Of course, Your Honor. Stone decided she was above the law, and tried holding a male in her residence with underage daughters prior to said children being of the proper age.
Judge: Ms. Stone?
Abigail Stone: Your Honor, I just don't find it right for them to be separated from their father at such a young age. They need the love and nurturing of two parents, not just one.
Judge: I see. ((Hesitates briefly)) However, all citizens are required to have knowledge that there are certain procedures and protocol you must follow if you find a rule, law, or even a guideline to be unjust.
Stone: Well, yes, but- ((Interrupted by Judge))
Judge: And do you mean to tell me, Ms. Stone, that you, as an average citizen, care to believe that you are... above this requirement?
Stone: Of course not, but with all due respect, Your Honor, I did indeed look into the process you speak of. And it takes from months to decades to follow through- if it gets that far, is considered, or changes anything. By the time it was taken into account, my girls would be of age and it wouldn't matter much for them anyway. I could be dead by the time something worthwhile happened!
Judge: Just because it takes a slightly extended period of time, Ms. Stone, does not mean you are exempt or get to bypass it. Rules are rules, and they are there for a reason.
((Small silence.))
Stone: Maybe, Your Honor, but maybe not. I once read of a time when there were FAIR rules. Men and women were more or less considered equal.
((Whispers fill court.))
Judge: You... Read?? You know women aren't allowed to read!
Stone: That's exactly what I'm talking about! Why can't women read?
Judge: That's just... Preposterous! Everybody knows women are inferior to men!!
((Large silence))
Judge: NEOs? I want her dead by tomorrow at sunset. You have until then to say goodbye to your loved ones, Ms. Stone. Good day.
((End of session))
