Chapter 3

The Market is a place filled with anything and everything. The items arrange from pets and foods to magic wands and mythical creatures. It was always funny seeing people try and sell you silly items. They try to convince you that their product will make you become more beautiful and younger.

The one and only time Anastasia came to the market by herself was because I was sick. Anastasia thought if she volunteered then she'll look even more like an angel in Mother's eyes. She was gone for almost four hours and when she came back she only had a bag of magic beans and some face cream that will make her look ten years younger.

Everyone, but mother, was mad at her for spending our food money for her own personal gain. When Anastasia began to cry and said she was sorry that's when mother stepped in and told us to be quiet and claimed that is was an honest mistake.

I leave my thoughts and focus on my sisters. Lily and Ruby were hopping from stand to stand to pick out all different types of fabrics and jewels, and other things need for the dresses. "They're going to be beautiful, captivating! They will be screaming notice me, the show has arrived," Lily said to Ruby. You can see all the emotions on her face happy, excited, patient, yet out of all of them, there's fear.

"I can't wait to see how beautiful you make me look, Lily. Your outfits always change me into a beautiful young lady when I put them on" I said smiling at her, hoping that it'll help her feel better. "You are truly beautiful and my clothes don't change that Octavia Rose," she said turning back to the stand picking out red fabric and a blue jewel. The fear which was once there, was no longer there, just like it was imaginative.

"I think Anastasia's dress will be pink with crystals, Athena's dress will be an olive or forest green, Brooklyn's will be black because that's the only color she'll ever wear, Ruby's will be an ocean blue with some pearls, Octavia Rose's will be blood red and have some white and black in it, and for me, I will just deal with a simple white dress," Lily said out loud to no one in particular.

"We are going to need mask since it's a masquerade ball and all" Stated Ruby. "I totally forget about that, Octativa can you go the material for Father, so he can carve the masks? Also, crafts that will help decorate the masks?"

"What type of crafts do you mean? Like feathers, pipes, gems, what?" I questioned Lily. The only thing I want to do is go see Willow and hear some of her new stories and probably found out more about that bird Xeron. The faster I help her the faster I can do that.

"Jewels, feathers, fairy dust, and gold string, I already have most of the stuff at the house, so those are the things I'll need you to get. When you're done head back to the house because we are leaving now so I can start the fittings." Lily told me while handing me the money I was going to need. "I'll be back at the house as soon as I finish shopping for everything," I state heading to the stands looking for the necessary material. Walkers' stand had the jewels and fairy dust. The Hanger's stand had the feathers, so the only thing I need now is the gold string and I could be on my way to see Willow then go home.

"Excuse me sir but do you have any gold string?" This was the only stand I haven't been to in the market and I'm hoping he may have the gold string Lily needs. "Yes I do have some gold string, I'll sell it to you but you have to listen to how I came upon it. Deal?"

Why does he have to be so difficult? I just need the string so I am able to have time and see Willow before I go home. "I'm sorry Mister, I wish I had time to listen to your story about how you came upon the string be I must be in a hurry before my father gets angry with me. Perhaps we can make a different kind of deal?" I look over my shoulder pretending to look for my angry father to sell my lie even more. When I look back at the man I give him a helpless smile.

"Then come back later to get the string when you're not in a hurry because I won't be selling it to you unless you hear my story." The old man stated as he turned his back to me. Why must he be so stubborn, it's very possible for him to give me some string without hearing his story. "What if you give me the string now and I'll come back tomorrow to hear your tale, my mother must have it tonight to fix my father's jacket. Please Mister, I really need that string." I did a quick look over my shoulder again and turned back to the man giving him my best puppy eyes I can put on my face.

"Tomorrow is when you will get the string if that's when you come and listen to my story." At this point, he was getting on my nerves. I already wasted a good amount of time negotiating with this man. "Do you think I can have the shortest and quickest version of your story that will get me on my way fast?"

"I'll try my best for you darling. My story begins with a young girl who was a peasant who was spinning wool. The master she worked for was obsessed with wool so he had all of his workers spin all day. The girl was new when it came to spinning, so she had to ask the master if he could help her. The master was disappointed in her and had her put into a room by herself and three bags of wool, He told her she wasn't to leave until the wool was spun. She was left in that room for three months with no food or water, then the door suddenly opened. The bags of wool were not wool anymore it was gold. The master wanted her to make more but she couldn't because she didn't know how she did it. The gold string you want here is from her nephew and he took three days to come up with it and he is selling it to you for free because you heard just a part of his family tale," The man finished telling me his story handing me a bag of gold thread.

"How were you able to change it, if she forgot?" His story just left me wanting to question him more about his family, mainly his aunt and her master. "Come back tomorrow and I'll tell you." He smiled looking at me. "Isn't your father waiting?" He's one tricky man. "You're right, I have to go. Thank you for the thread." I waved the man goodbye and head towards the meadow. I wonder what Willow would think of this.
