The boys walked into Maccas and began looking at the menu.

“Can you order me a Big Mac?” James pressed a few coins into Daniels hand. “I’ll go find us a seat”

Beau heard him. “May as well, the lines really long”

James jumped inside with this luck. He had the chance to read the fourth letter from Elsie. He left the boys and looked around for some seats. He found a table next to the window , sat down and pulled out the letter.

Dear James,

One of the patients, Jake fell over today right in front of my eyes. I receiving my treatment like usual, Jake had just gotten his and was making his way back to his room when he just collapsed. Lots of nurses and doctors ran over to help him and two came over to me and pulled a curtain in front of me so I couldn’t see what was going on. They kept talking to me to try and distract me from the scene that was happening but I could hear it all. They were yelling at each other. I heard one say they couldn’t feel his pulse. It was like Charlotte all over again.

It was just a normal day and she was just giving me a quick check up. She went to walk out the door when her legs buckled, and her face hit the hard floor. I screamed her name and a few nurses came into my room to see the sight that lay before me. I jumped out of bed and tried to get her to say something but nothing came out. They attempted to get me out so they could ‘help’ her but I refused to leave Charlotte. In the end it didn’t matter. They couldn’t find her pulse either. She died right in front of my eyes James. It’s the scariest thing to see. The person who has helped you so much in your pain and when they’re in trouble and you can’t give back to them – the feeling is just so stomach drenching.

Seeing Jake just made everything came back to me. I hardly ate or spoke to anyone after Charlotte died. I had to be forced fed and the doctors soon realised I didn’t care what they were doing to me anymore. Life went on and I’m still alive and kicking, but Charlottes not. I found out a week later that she was taking pills and that's what caused her to collapse and...die. I think she's in a better place now. Wait, not think. Know she’s in a better place now. Away from these horrid people she was working with that I have to be around now. Sometimes I can smell her flowery scent in my room and I know she is watching over me. I told Sharni this and she didn’t believe me , that it’s just me trying to tell myself that but really it’s not happening. She doesn’t understand. No one does. It’s so hard living here James. I have no one to tell my troubles to or anything. I can't have a twitter as I can't take any chances with the doctors or Sharni finding out. I have a ipod that connects to the free wfi here so I can watch your videos and that keeps me happy. You boys make me happy.

James swallowed. It was amazing hearing that the videos they filmed keeped people smiling or alive but this was just that little bit more special. He had grown a soft spot for Elsie as she wrote to him and to know that they were the reason she was happy made him happy. James spotted the boys carrying the bags of food towards him and he slipped the letter under his dark , navy blue jersey to hide it from the boys. "Took long enough!"
