Chapter 2

The crew entered the Ghost and reached the kitchen; they all explained the situation to Rex who's eyes were still wide after five minutes. The group sat down at the table - Ezra was sat on Sabine's knee as he had woken up "okay, so from now on, Ezra was be sleeping in mine or Kanan's room" Hera explained - although they were a couple, the two still slept in separate cabins "Sabine and Zeb, I'll give you some credits to buy some supplies for Ezra, I'll write you out a list" she did just that. The teen artist spoke up "Should we see what Ezra thinks we all are to him??" she asked earning nods from everyone "hey Ezra" the young child smiled happily "who am I??" he tilted his head to the side a little bit "sissy" she pointed to each person one at a time. Zeb "bro bro". Ahsoka "cous". Hera "mama". Kanan "dada". Kenobi "unc". Rex "unc". Everyone was rather happy and proud of their new titles "Ezra thinks I'm his cousin!!" Ahsoka squealed, followed by Sabine "and he thinks Zeb and I are his siblings!!". The child himself seemed to look around until his eyes landed on Kanan; he reached out as he called out for the man "dada!!" This caught their attention as the teen lifted Ezra up and off of her lap "here you go Kanan" she outstretched her arms toward the Jedi "he wants his dada" Kanan gladly took the boy with a smile and held him, allowing Ezra to play with his shoulder guard and hand. The others watched with a look of fondness; Kanan was going to do great at being Ezra's new dad. After five minutes of playing, Kanan looked back to find all eyes on him "what??" he asked with a raised brow; they snapped out of their trance "oh nothing, it's just...looks like you're breaking in your new role with the kid" Rex stated. This confused the man "sorry...what??" Hera decided to step in "it looks like you're going to be a brilliant dad for Ezra, that's all dear" Kanan was taken back but he did indeed like the new dad. Hera handed the list to the Sabine and Zeb; it contained:

1. Baby food.
2. Baby clothes.
3. Bottles.
4. Bibs.
5. A small crib.
6. A baby seat that could be folded away.
7. Some toys - they had to make sure they were legit and couldn't harm Ezra.
8. Nappies (that's the British word for diapers).
9. Baby cutlery - plastic small spoons and forks.

The two hurried to leave as they wanted to get the shopping done quickly. Rex left to do some blaster training whilst Kenobi and Ahsoka did the same but for some Jedi training. "So...what should we do??" Kanan asked earning a small smile "you...really don't know how to look after a baby...do you??" she asked earning a shrug "I've never had to look after a baby before...and it's not like the temple taught the younglings that type of stuff". He had a point. So on that note, Hera decided to take it upon herself to teach the man the basic of looking after a baby; she explained and showed Kanan what he needed to know. "Hera??" she stopped what she was doing and looked at the man, showing he had her full attention "yes dear??" he was quiet for a moment, thinking carefully of what he was going to say "do you think this is a good idea?? I mean...when has anyone on this ship looked after a baby?? Raised a child??" he had a point; no one had "...Ezra thinks we're his parents so that means it's our job....I...I don't think I'm ready to do this or ave that type of responsibility" he admitted. Ezra had fallen asleep again five minutes again so Hera hurried to make a make shift crib with blankets and pillows before turning back to the man "Kanan...it's going to be hard, I'm not gonna lie" she stated "but I think this is a great idea...Ezra will have the childhood he deserves....the childhood he needs...you're right though, no one had ever looked after a baby or raised a child but we'll learn...together" she held his hand "and besides, you were already raising a child before Ezra turned into a baby". 

That one confused and shocked Kanan who raised a brow "who and when?!" the woman couldn't hold back her chuckle "before he turned into a baby, you were already raising Ezra" the man shook his head "no I wasn't" Hera rolled her eyes as she shook her head "yes you were Kanan, you just...didn't know it" she sighed "you taught him things that he needed to learn, you trained him, you helped him with things like injuries and even more" Hera smiled "you were there when he needed you and you protected him...that's what you've got to do now...just a bit more like feeding him, bathing him, dressing him, playing with him and teaching him right from wrong". Kanan seemed to be in deep of thought, taking in everything his girlfriend was saying "so to be honest....you were already like a dad to Ezra, you just...never knew" she was right....as usual. The Jedi looked up at the woman "don't worry Kanan, we'll get through this...together, as a family" she promised, her hand still holding his; they looked into each others eyes before leaning forward and pressing their lips together. Once two eventually parted, they smiled "I love you Hera" Kanan stated earning a peck on the lips "I love you too love". All of a sudden, before they could kiss again, an adorable giggle could be heard; the two looked over at the make shift crib to see Ezra sat up, holding his feet and smiling brightly. Hera stood up and walked over, picking the child up and sitting back down next to her boyfriend "looks like someones awake...again" Kanan chuckled as he the boy hugged them both "mama, dada...love you"he managed to say, using what he had just heard the two adults say to one another; the Captain aww'd and kissed the child's cheek, earning yet another giggle. "Aren't you the cutest little thing" it wasn't a question but a fact "mama and dad love you too kid" Kanan smiled as he planted his own kiss on the boys head. Little did either of them know, Chopper had secretly entered the room - somehow unnoticed - and had recorded the whole things. From Hera and Kanan kiss to the now.
