The people of Oz remembered a time when Dorothy wasn't so bad; when she was a sweet little girl who saved Oz from the Wicked Witch. Those days were long gone now. Dorothy was basically the new Wicked Witch to them, though they would never tell her that. When she had left all of Oz had grown sad and depressed. They missed the girl who saved them, so they were ecstatic when she found her way back to Oz. They loved her. She was the darling girl of Oz. Ozma had even crowned her princess Dorothy of The Emerald City. Then, Glinda had thought it was an amazing idea to start teaching the girl magic. That was a grave mistake. It would be the downfall of all of Oz. Dorothy was amazed by magic, she couldn't believe she had the power to do anything she wanted. But soon it wasn't enough. She needed more magic; she became greedy, power hungry. Dorothy went crazy. She began making laws for the people of Oz to follow. She banned the use of all magic from anyone outside of her inner circle. Dorothy, then, had the munchkins mining for magic. She had basically enslaved them. Ozma had tried to talk to Dorothy, but she wouldn't listen. Dorothy just grew angrier and angrier until she turned on her friend. She used all the magic at her disposal (which was a lot) and fought Ozma. Ozma did not want to fight her friend, so she simply threw out simple shielding spells. Eventually, they stopped working. All of that magic hit Ozma at once, destroying her mind. The queen of Oz had been defeated. Now, she just roamed the palace like a mental patient, not even bothering with magic. With Ozma out of the way, Dorothy grew more and more ridiculous with her demands and so-called laws. She outlawed the flying monkeys and had them all locked up in cages, their wings clipped. The monkeys couldn't even fight back, seeing as they were susceptible to magic. All Dorothy had to do was wiggle her fingers and the monkeys practically marched themselves into the cages for her, which she kept in the palace dungeon. She utilized some of them at times to do jobs and capture people who went against her rule. She stomped out every bit of resistance there was. She even turned on the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, and the Lion when they tried to talk some sense into her. She burnt the Scarecrow at the stake, she cast a spell of eternal rain over the Tin Man causing him to rust again, and she took the Lion's courage and set every animal in Oz after him. The Lion's roars could always be heard when he was being chased by a small forest animal. He was terrified of everything, especially Dorothy. The girl was left with no friends, no one who liked her, just a bunch of fearful subjects who followed her every command. If Dorothy had to admit, she was lonely; she never would admit it though. She did have Toto, though she had to admit she would prefer human company, but Toto was better than nothing. When Dorothy had changed so had her clothing style. Not by much though; it still looked like a picnic table had thrown up all over her, but the top was more low cut and ended above her belly button. The bottom was a skirt that barely went down to mid thigh, and when she bent over you could see the thong she so clearly wore. And to finish the look off: her ruby slippers. Her face was a whole other mess by itself. She wore scarlet red lipstick and thick black eyeliner along with some blush, so she could have her pink, rosy cheeks. The girl was very conceited and believed herself to be the most gorgeous in all the land. Which, she was. She was so full of herself, she had Ozma's crown resized and set. She switched out the emerald jewels for blue topaz and switched the gold to silver. She thought gold was too gaudy. The crown looked more like a tiara now than anything. Dorothy had practically made herself queen, and Ozma couldn't even fight back. She just laughed at whatever Dorothy said, and agreed as long as Dorothy provided her with art supplies. Ozma was wrapped around Dorothy's little finger, and Dorothy liked it that way. She liked to rule. She liked to run the show, a classic control freak. But run things, she did...right into the ground. Oz was no longer the great place it once was. It was a mere shadow of itself, no hope of ever returning to its former glory. At least, until Tanner Montgomery arrived.
