Grace's POV
"Class dismissed. You're free to go home." Hearing my Physics Professor say those words brought joy to my heart. My head was throbbing with pain all day long, after I found out that our Music professor is retiring. He's probably the only professor that isn't boring in this university. I hope the replacement teacher, who is supposed to come next week, is at least a little good.
As i drive home, i call the Toy Factory to let them know I'm not working today. I didn't get paid much at the Movie Theater, so i got a second job a couple years ago. I remember getting Maria's Christmas and Birthday gifts from this factory. My boss is a really good friend of mine, even though he's almost 50. He was the person i talked to when something was going on, before i was able to talk to Maria. I call him and he gives me the ok. After a few blocks, I'm parked in the parking lot and I'm already in the elevator, letting it bring me to the 11th floor.
And the screaming will begin, i think to myself.
As i walk in the room and put my bag and jacket on the couch, Maria is in the living room, with the laptop already on her lap, waiting for the results to come.
"Hi Grace!" She looks up to greet me, with almost too much happiness. "How was school?"
"It was fine, thank you. How was your 'reunion' with Carmen?"
"It was ok, only she told me that her and Fred broke up. She was crying." A serious expression crept on Maria's face.
"Oh my gosh, tell her i said I'm sorry, and its going to be ok. He wasn't worth it." I reply.
"Ok." She said bluntly, regaining her excitement from what is about to come up on the laptop screen.
"Ummm.... You do know that the results aren't going to come for another 30 minutes, right?" I say as i walk into the kitchen and take a bottle of water from the fridge.
"I was just preparing, so i don't miss it when they announce me as the winner. Oh! That reminds me! If you're going to go to the concert with me, i have to teach you about these 5 boys."
"Oh joy." I sarcastically say as i move to sit next to her on the couch. "Kill me now" i mumble under my breath.
Maria opens up a picture of 5 teenage boys and begins to tell me each of their names. The one with the curly, brown hair and green eyes is Harry Styles (I asked Maria if his parents named him that because his hair was stylish, and she just laughed and gave me a playful shove). The one with the blonde hair and blue eyes is Niall Horan. Apparently, he's the only Irish one in the group. I'm learning so much already! Although i don't think im going to remember any of this 3 months from now.
Continuing, the boy with the hazel eyes and dark brown hair is Zayn Malik. And boy, do they all have a lot of tattooes. The boy with the blue eyes and brown hair is Louis Tomlinson, and apparently Louis and Harry have a "special connection". Oh, the fake gay-ness. The last one has brown eyes and brownish hair, and thats Liam Payne. He's the dude we just read about 2 nights ago. If he sounds as annoying as he did in that report in real life, i will give him a piece of my mind.
"Ok. I think youre getting bored already, so i won't tell you anything else about them. On the day of the concert, im going to quiz you on their names."
I end up laughing. "Ok, ok." I say after i catch my breath. After 30 minutes of Maria's One Direction lecture, she goes back to the website to find out if they posted the winner.
"THEY PICKED A WINNER! THEY PICKED A WINNER!" Maria's smile is so big, and she's jumping in her seat.
"Well, click on the link so we can find out if it's you!"
She clicks on the link, and reads the page as i take a sip of water. I stop and look at her, and she already has an answer for me.
"I didn't win. I didn't get the tickets."
Her expression changed so fast, i almost couldn't believe it. I take the laptop from her lap, and read the page myself.
"Hey..... You're one of the second prize winners! You and 9 other people get a One Direction Fan Pack! It has a bunch of stuff in it, like their CDs, an autographed t-shirt -"
"Yeah, i know. But are there tickets too?" She says with an attitude, but i let it slip from my mind because she's almost in tears.
"It's ok, baby. There's always going to be other concerts." I'm trying every possible method of cheering her up. I'm close to trying to tickle her, but by the way she sounds in her reply, i don't dare to try it.
"But there's not always going to be other contests. And we both know very well that we can't afford tickets. Look, I'm tired. The thing says my prize pack is going to come in 24 hours. Then, you can talk to me."
And after that, she quietly walks down the hall to her room, clutching her now closed laptop under her arm.
