A/N   Alright, I know that there's only like, 3 people reading this at the moment, but I'm going to apologise anyway cause I took WAY too long on this chapter. This one ends on a huge cliff hanger, and is a little short for my liking, so I'll try to get the next one up in a few days, hopefully tomorrow or the day after. Love y'all :*

Chapter 5

I need to search through the new clothes Al gave me. She leaves them in the dresser whenever she outgrows, or (more often) gets tired of them. I dug through the pants and shirts in the dresser until I found a pair of sweats and a Star Wars tank top. I changed into them and ran downstairs. As I was about to leave the bar outback Al yelled at me to stop.

"Al, what's wrong?" I asked

"You can't go out in that outfit with red tennis shoes!" She gasped."Here, let me grab something else."

She ran back upstairs and came back down with a black and blue galaxy pair of Nikes.

"You know these won't even be the same color when I come back, right? I don't keep shoes clean for very long."

"So? At least now you look like don't look color blind, and I think those are pretty comfy."

I chuckled."Whatever you say Al. Could you grab my bag? I think I left it behind the counter last night."

"Sure." She walked behind the bar to get my bag, but stopped and looked at it for a second.

"Did you draw this deer on here?" Al inquired.

"Yeah, it was the only thing I had to draw on a few months ago while I was taking a train somewhere, so I used it was my canvas." I answered. "Oh, and technically it's a buck."

Al laughed and tossed the bag at my face. "Yeah, yeah miss smart alic. I was going to say it looked nice, but you just lost your compliment." She fake huffed before going behind the counter again.

"Oh! My heart! Whatever shall I do!?" I cried dramatically, hand over my heart.

"Pfft, go on your run already you crybaby."

I let out one last laugh before taking the back door out into the woods behind the bar.

I stumbled over a tree root and landed on my hands.

"Ugh, the one time I'm not paying attention." I groaned.

I can't feel anything, but I see a few scratches across my palms. I need to put something on them so I don't get an infection of some sort.

I should get back, but I can't tear myself away from these woods. They hold a beauty that I scarcely see these days. The sun seems to melt through the trees and make the air glow, the cool wind dances through the trees like a messenger taking a note from friend to friend, and the fresh smell of the pine trees lifts my spirit. This is why I love the woods, and why I prefer to sleep in the trees.

I find a few trees with low lying branches and pull myself up. The branches up top look sturdy, and I want to see if I can jump to some of the neighboring trees.

The climb up was easy, but I could feel my hands start to sting from the bark. When I got close to the top of the tree I stopped to take a breath. I always climb faster than I need to.

Wow, I'm an idiot, I thought.I have gauze and bandages in my bag.

I pull them out, feeling stupid for not wrapping my hands before going up the tree. I poured some water, then a little alcohol from my bag over my hands to sterilize them, then wrapped them in the gauze and tape. That would make the climb down easier.

I lean against the tree and take in my surroundings. The tree tops are beautiful, I wish I could live up here. I can see the birds dashing from tree to tree, and a few hawks diving for prey on the ground below.

I close my eyes and let my mind wander, just wanting to relax. My nerves are finally calming down after the bar fight, and it feels nice not to be on an adrenaline high for once. I almost fall asleep when I hear a noise coming from the branch behind me. I immediately launch from the position I was in and dash down the tree.

I'm about halfway down when I see that it was only a squirrel. I shake my head and let out a chuckle. I get spooked over everything.

I should be getting back, Al gets nervous when I'm gone for too long on forest hikes, and my arm bandages needed to be changed.

I start walking back but something stops me, a feeling of some sort, if I didn't know any better than I would say that it was dread.

I stop suddenly, unable to move. I feel a cold sensation taking over, like liquid nitrogen was running through my veins, coming from my heart, taking over my entire body. The forest was beginning to grow darker, and my hearing was becoming muffled.

"No..." I whispered, close to tears. "Please, no!"

There was a soft, warm breath behind my ear, which burned my now frozen skin until tears were streaming down my face from the pain.

"hmm, well, that was messier than I expected, *chuckles* now for the fun part...."

Then.....nothing, just silence. I couldn't even hear my heartbeat.

"NOOOOO."

The sound of the scream hit me like a truck, it was that of a little girl and boy screaming in pain. The dread that had filled me quickly changed into fear. I regain control of my body and ran as fast as I could . I had no clue where I was going because the forest was still dark, but a different dark. It wasn't the foggy dark I had just been it, it was now night.

The only thing I was focused on was my feet hitting the ground, if I focused on whatever the hell just happened I would lose my mind, but my mind wouldn't let me forget so easily.

I'm going crazy, that's the only explanation. Maybe my schizophrenia was coming back, or I was having a PTSD relapse and my mind was twisting memories around. That voice, the one whispering in my ear, it was Kornicks; however, I had no idea who the screams belonged to. They weren't my brothers or sisters, those would never leave my mind. They were different from the ones I just heard, and that's what scared me the most.

As I was slowly recovering and beginning to calm down, I heard the sound of thumping feet hitting the ground behind me and.....a growl??!!!

There was the sound of more feet(or, paws!?) on my right and my left. Then I heard a different growl from each side, like they were big cats or something, and I could hear a bird closing in on overhead.

Adrenaline was re-kicking for the billionth time today and I let my instincts do the work, but I still wasn't running fast enough.

Just as I was about to gain a lead, the bandages on my left hand got caught on a tree branch. Just as I yanked it loose, a wolf leaped out of the bushes. I could see what was going to happen a mile away, and I knew I couldn't stop it. I tried to yank my hand away, but it was too late.

I let out a scream as the wolf's teeth sank into my wrist. It had a firm grip on me and dragged me to the ground.

I tried to get up, but before I knew it someone was on my back and holding a cloth to my face. I was quickly flipped onto my back, and the last thing I remember seeing is a pair of glowing amber eyes.
