Hinata drowsily awoke with a throbbing headache and pain in his left leg. Slowly, he opened his heavy eyes to see he was in a small, dark, very empty hospital room. From what Hinata could see in his position on the bed, the room had two small beds and medical equipment.

On the opposite wall of the beds, there were a few scattered, cushioned chairs and a small table with coats lying over it. Two of the chairs were occupied by Sugawara and Daichi. Suga was asleep on Daichi's shoulder, which was understandable because of how late it seemed to be.

Daichi, now noticing Hinata had awoken whispered, "Oh! Hinata, you're awake."

After saying that, less than a second later Suga's eyes snapped open. "WHAT?! Hinata's awake?" He suddenly exclaimed, his mom senses tingling and making both Daichi and Hinata jump.

What Hinata didn't expect though, was Tanaka and Noya to spring up from the floor and scream, "HINATA!" earning a few 'shhhh''s from the hallway outside the room.

"EH? Tanaka-senpai, Nishinoya-senpai, why were you on the floor?" Hinata questioned the strange pair.

"Wait, we were on the floor?" Noya seemed confused. Did he not remember waking up just now?

"Guess we fell asleep waiting for you to wake your ass up." Tanaka stated matter-of-factly.

"Don't say it like that!" Suga scolded, his mom mode still switched on. "Oh, sorry Hinata. How're you feeling?"

Hinata moved his gaze to the gentle third year and answered, "I have a little headache and a bit of pain in my leg, but nothing major, I'm fine." Hinata lied, not wanting to worry his senpais any more. He couldn't see very well in the dark, but as far as he could see, the cast wrapped tightly around his left leg was orange.

There was a feeling of peace in the room as there was a moment of silence. No one really had anything else to say at the moment.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

That's gonna get annoying. I guess my ears are ringing. Hinata thought to himself, raising a hand to massage his ear. But to his surprise, when he cupped his hand, the sound got louder as if it were real.

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

A machine rang beside him- it was the other bed in the room that Hinata hadn't rejected looking over to. The lights on the machine were flashing wildly and the sound got louder as doctors rushed into the room and the few present members of Karasuno ran over to the bed. They were all panicked and yelling.

Hinata was finally able to get a good look at what was happening. The person who the beeping machine belonged to was, their one and only...

Kageyama.

Hinata was left alone for what felt like hours after Kageyama had been rushed out of the room by doctors and noise. It was getting frustrating to him. He couldn't move, so there was no way for him to know what was happening as anxiety ate away at him from his core out.

Finally, the four of them, Daichi, Sugawara, Tanaka and Nishinoya made their first steps back into the room. To Hinata, it almost felt as if a tidal wave of sadness and despair had drowned him when he saw the faces of his friends.

"What? WHAT HAPPENED?!" Hinata yelled at them, panicking so much that it wasn't good for his mental health at the moment.

"Kageyama, he... he's..."

"Gone. Forever."

Hinata looked in shock at his friends who had just delivered the depressing news to him, then narrowed his eyes letting his eyebrows crease. "Lies. Kageyama wouldn't let himself die from something so stupid. I know he wouldn't..."

"I'm sorry Hinata, but-" Sugawara tried to calm the small raging boy, but when Hinata was like this, the only ones who could calm him down were himself, or... Kageyama.

"No! He didn't die! I don't believe it! I-" Hinata was shut up (to an extent) by his friends engulfing him in a group hug. They all knew that's what he needed, so they just did it.

"Hinata," Daichi began to explain after letting go, "When Kageyama was hit by the bus, his heart stopped for a very brief moment because of the impact. After that they thought he was doing fine, but his heart failed for good, 3 hours and 19 minutes later. They did x-rays, and found he had a small tear in his heart where blood was leaking out of the veins."

Everyone began to snap at this point, tears flowing freely and Kageyama's name being said over and over under their breaths. None of them wanted to believe it, but this was the harsh reality of the world outside of volleyball.

"I... didn't even get to say..." Hinata choked out under his breath.

"Goodbye."

A/N: I know this chapter is a little shorter than usual, but I'm gonna upload two at the same time. I just wanted to split the chapter off here because it felt like a good place to end.
