Hinata didn't talk to anyone that weekend, and didn't go to school the following Monday either. He was under complete shutdown, which was strange because of his usual open, upbeat personality.

He'd have to leave his room eventually, on Tuesday for Kageyama's funeral, but not yet. Hinata ignored his family, ate alone in his room, and cried himself to sleep. It had almost become a routine, if it wasn't for his little sister Natsu coming to visit him Monday night.

"Onii-chan? Are you ok?" Natsu asked, opening the door to Hinata's dark room letting some light flow in. She knew well that he was nowhere near ok, but she still asked as a sort of conversation starter.

Hinata didn't answer, just buried himself deeper under his avalanche of pillows and blankets.

Natsu closed the door a little and sat beside Hinata on his bed. "I know you're sad about Kageyama, I am too. Everyone's sad."

Hinata still said nothing, but seemed to be listening.

"I don't think I quite understand, because I've never lost someone dear to me. Oh, but mommy told me a quote the other day. It went something like, u-uh, 'They say you don't know what you have until it's gone. But the truth is, you knew what you had, you just never thought you'd lose it.' Is it something like that?"

Hinata nodded, but still refused to look up at his little sister.

"I don't think you really lost Kageyama-kun. He's still alive, I think anyways. Like, in your head and your heart. Don't people usually say that after deaths? So, don't be sad." Natsu continued her attempt at cheering up her gloomy older brother.

This time though, Hinata looked up, and even spoke. "Yeah, I guess that's true. You're right." He dried a stray tear, and sat up to hug his small, orange haired sister. "Thank's Natsu. For trying to help me."

Natsu nodded, and quietly left with a sad smile after she got Hinata to promise to her that he was ok.

That night, instead of having freakish nightmares about the night of Kageyama's death, he dreamed. He dreamed about the fun days and dark nights they would spend playing volleyball, laughing, and smiling.

Eventually, Tuesday came around, and Hinata managed to drag his no longer cheerful self out of his house. He began walking to the outskirts of the town where the graveyard was, meeting up with Noya and Tanaka at one of the intersections.

Noya and Tanaka tried to be their usual selves and had loud, pointless conversations as they walked. Hinata remained quiet though, staring at the road that lied ahead.

As they walked up to the small building outside the graveyard, the second year's stopped their talking. There they could see almost everyone was there, and dressed in black.

Most from the volleyball team were there; Daichi, Suga, Asahi, Ennoshita, Noya, Tanaka, Hinata, Yamaguchi and Tsukishima. A few family members were there as well, including Kageyama's parents and grandparents. He didn't have a very big extended family and was an only child, so most of the people there were his friends.

They decided they didn't want to hire a host for the funeral, so they held it themselves. They just thought it didn't seem very 'Kageyama' to have a stranger host it. Or at least, that's what his mom decided.

Hinata's heart began to ache as Kageyama's mom softly spoke, beginning the small, ceremony-like gathering. "Today, we're gather to acknowledge the death, and celebrate the life of Kageyama Tobio, my dear and beloved son. I loved, and still do love him with all of my heart. He-"

She began to tear up, but did what she could to come up with the words she wanted to say, "He died at such a young age, a-and he didn't deserve it. He was such a good boy, and he would have been an even better adult. I don't understand why he had to go so soon..." She managed to choke out, making many others tear up with her.

She seemed to decide she couldn't go on, so she took a few steps forward and placed a kiss on the large coffin everyone had been standing around.

"I love you, Tobio." She weakly smiled and moved back a few steps. She took comfort in her mom; Kageyama's grandma.

They went around the circle and Kageyama's family all told of their love for their dear Tobio, and each one broke down as they spoke. Going in order, now it was Sugawara and Daichi's turn.

"Well, I guess I could start by saying he was the best setter I've ever met in my life." Suga proudly announced. "He was an amazing player, but an even better friend. He was fun to be around, and-" Suga paused for a moment, tears beginning to flow more heavily now.

"A-and I-" Sugawara tried, but he couldn't battle his cracking voice to finish his sentence. Defeated, he sunk his head and looked at the ground, attempting to dry his tears.

"We'll miss him." Daichi finished for him. Daichi bent down to his bag he had set on the ground beside him. From it, he pulled a navy blue and orange jersey with the number nine on both sides, and at the front read 'Karasuno'.

The two of them walked up to Kageyama's coffin and opened it just enough to set the shirt inside with Kageyama. Everyone smiled at the gesture, all of them thinking something along the lines of 'I bet Kageyama would be happy'.

They went around the circle, many of the members saying their speeches in pairs. Yamaguchi talked for him and Tsukishima, and said about how much they'd miss his annoying, yet fun attitude.

Tanaka and Noya talked together, adding on to each other's words. They were much more light hearted than the rest, joking a little and bringing up things that happened while Kageyama was with them.

Finally, it was Hinata's turn. He didn't really have anyone he'd talk with, seeing as the one he would usually be partnered with was...

Hinata shook his head and took a sharp breath in, and poured out whatever his heart told him to. "Kageyama.. ahh where do I begin. He was stubborn, annoying, and bossy, but his tosses were amazing. I don't think that I'll ever spike the way I used to... only Kageyama can give me that toss."

"I... we'll miss having him around, definitely. Sure, at times he was irritating to be around, b-but having him with us everyday made it feel more lively. It just won't be the same, you know, without him..." Hinata's mind began to wander into what it would be like at practice and walking home without him, but he stopped himself and continued talking.

"I uh, I actually didn't hit his last toss to me the way I w-wished I did. I didn't do a lot of things the way I wish I did, but I guess we can't go back now, huh?" Everyone around him began to tear up as Hinata ranted on about his friend. "I feel like I can't say goodbye here. Not yet. But somehow, I feel like I have to do it here. This is my last chance, the last time I'll ever have the slightest contact with him. So, I guess I'll say it e-even though I-I feel like I shouldn't be."

Hinata took a final breath in as he heard the muffled sobs of his friends all around him.

"Goodbye my favorite setter. My strongest teammate.

My best friend."

The one I realized I loved, after it was already too late.
