Serena's Birthday

Ash's POV

"See ya tomorrow!" Gary shouted as he entered house.

"Wait, Gary!" I shouted. His head popped back out his door.

"Do you want to come with Clemont and I to the shops to get Serena a present?" I asked.

"Oh, sure! Just give me 15 minutes or so, gotta deal with my mum." Gary replied, returning to his house.

"See ya then Clemont!" I said, walking back into my house. Pikachu leapt if my shoulder and ran in. I let Riolu out if his pokeball, and he ran in as well, following Pikachu. It was seconds later that I heard a shout Dom within the house. I then saw my mum barrelling towards me. She embraced me, almost suffocating me in her powerful arms. She let me go, beaming.

"Welcome home Ash!"

"Thanks, mum." I said. "Um, I was invited to one of my friends birthday tomorrow, so I'm going to go buy a present with  Gary and Clemont."

"Okay, be back by 7 so you can have dinner." My mum said, turning to scoop up Pikachu who was running around her feet.

"Want a snack before you go?" She asked.

"Pika!" Pikachu shouted excitedly, and leapt out of my mum's hands, dashing into the kitchen excitedly, Riolu following. I grinned, and clambered up the stairs, racing into my room to grab my phone, which I had left in charge before I went to camp, where phones had been banned. I picked it up, then ran back down the stairs to see my Pokemon devouring the food laid out by my mum. I went over to them and checked the fridge, looking for food.

"Ash, just grab something from the shops if you're hungry." Mum mum handed me some money. "Use this for... Whose birthday is this again?"

"A new friend of ours who we met this year, her name's Serena!" I explained.

"Oh, okay. You can use this money for a present as well." I nodded, then ran outside, Pikachu and Riolu gulping down the remainder of their food, then hurrying after me. I saw Garry waiting, and Clement emerging form his house. I walked over to then, and we began the short walk to the shops.

"So Clemont, we had an idea for Bonnie." I said, remembering my idea.

"Aren't we shopping for Serena?" Clemont said.

"Yeah, but this may take a bit to get going, so we were asking for your, and your parents, approval." Gary interjected.

"Okay. What were you thinking?"

"Well, what about a Pokemon?" I said. "She is turning ten, after all.

"That's a great idea! That's actually what I was getting her! So we can do it together!" Clemont said.

"Okay cool! But, who's Bonnie inviting!" Gary said.

"Well, because Bonnie actually changed school this year, she was hoping the girls would come, and she wanted you guys to come as well."

"Really? Okay, I'll be there!" I said.

"Me too!" Gary said.

"Okay. Now that that's sorted out, hat about a present for Serena?" I asked.

"I dunno, what would she want?"
