'Hey girl,' Charlotte said when she walked up to me. She leant against the lockers next to mine. She was tapping on her phone, I guess she was texting someone or playing a game.
'Hey Charlie,' I called her, she hated the nickname, she glared at me. I smirked back.
'Tomorrow's a special day you know, and I was wondering... what do you want for your birthday Kayla? And don't tell me you don't want anything for your birthday!' she glared again.
'But I don't want anything! I know how expensive everything is Charlie, I really don't want anything,' I said. When you live alone you'll understand how expensive everything is.
'But Rose told me the same! I want to get you something! You're turning 18 for gods sake!' she really wanted to give me something.
'But no Charlie, the best gift you could give me is your friendship, and I already have that,' I said winking. Her friendship meant the world to me, she helped us so much just by listening to us. Charlotte sighted and went to her class since the bell rang. I closed my locker and went to my class as well.

Let's say it was an ordinary day at school with teachers yelling, boring classes and being tired because you haven't slept enough last night. When the last bell rang I rushed to my locker to get everything I needed to do my homework and went to our car. I walked towards my car while other students started their cars and drove away. Rose was already waiting for me to unlock the car so we still had to wait for Charlotte. When she arrived as well we drove to Charlotte's place. I parked the car and we went inside, it was a tradition. The day before our birthday we would celebrate it at Charlotte's place with her mum and dad, on our birthday we used to celebrate it with mum and Charlotte and some friends of us. Charlotte's place was like our second home, we used to come here every Saturday. I dropped my backpack and went to the kitchen to get our drinks and the cake. Her mum and dad were already waiting for us at the table.
'Happy birthday girls!' her mum said. I smiled, she's like our second mother.

The evening flew by, we played games, we talked about everything (even the problem with the rent and stuff), we laughed. We had fun. I was laying in my bed and thinking about tomorrow, a lot will change. Rose and I will be adults. Do you know how weird that sounds? We are going to be adults! I'm getting old. I'm curious for what Charlotte will give us tomorrow, she always gets us awesome things! Like last year her mother paid for a boat trip. It was so cool! It was one of the best days of my life. Rose will have a present for me as well, just like I have a present for her. I bought her a CD from sleeping with sirens because she is a huge fan of this band. I just hope she'll like it. We'll probably skip some lessons, only Charlotte and I because Rose, well yeah, she doesn't know about it. She probably hates the idea of missing classes and stuff. I turned around and drifted away in the darkness.

'f*cking alarm!' I yelled at my alarm. I threw my alarm away and got up. I changed my pyjama's for a black jeans with a flannel. I went downstairs to eat something when I saw a present laying at the table with my name on it. I smiled. Rose her present was underneath her bed and I had laid hints everywhere her room. I opened the present and I saw a new phone case with a picture of Rose, Charlotte and I. I immediately fell in love with the case. I ate my breakfast and changed my phone case when I called for Charlotte (who was still upstairs). When she finally came downstairs she jumped towards me and hugged me really tightly (which wasn't normal because she hated hugs).
'Thank you so much!' she said.
'You're welcome sis,' I said when she stopped hugging me.

We arrived at school after we picked up Charlotte. She was trying to make us curious for her present. Too bad for her we weren't really desperate to hear what she bought us. To be honest I was a little bit curious but I didn't show her. I would know it by the end of the day anyway.
'So I have an awesome present for you two but you have to listen to me before you get it,' she said, trying to make us jealous.
'We aren't curious Charlotte, don't even try,' Rose said with a bored voice.
'We'll always listen to you, you know that,' I answered giving Rose a glare.
'I'm serious Rose, I know you two aren't curious but I'll be sending a text to you tonight and you have to listen okay?' she asked us. Rose wanted to answer but I put my hand in front of her mouth just in time.
'We'll listen,' I said removing my hand from Rose's mouth. Rose sighted. She agreed with me before leaving us so she could go to her class.
'Let's go!' Charlotte said to me before she walked out of school. I walked after her to the park where we sat all day doing nothing.

'Where were you during lunch? I had to sit with Jessica! You know how much I hate that banana!' she said.
'Sorry Rose but I had some troubles with French and the teacher explained it to me during lunch, come on! You know I suck in French!' I said looking at her, she nodded. A few minutes later I got a text from Charlotte saying we needed to pack our stuff for a weekend. Just like she told us to, we packed our stuff and texted her back. When the text was sent the doorbell rang. I walked downstairs only to see Charlotte standing in front of our door.
'Why did we have to pack our stuff?' I asked her.
'I'll show you, get in the car girls!' she yelled.
