~Shane's POV~
I couldn't wait for it all to end. All of the death, the hardships, the loss, it was getting to me. And nobody cared, either. Dan rarely paid me any attention in the first place, but ever since Dan and Phil got together, he hasn't been talking to me at all.
Having Joey gone didn't help anything, either. It would've been better if he didn't die first, but no, I had to leave him alone. Look what that got me.
Everything was happening too fast. We had been trapped for less than a month, and the majority of us were killed.
Then, one morning I got a letter.
Dear Shane,
I bet you know who I am. I want to make this short and simple. Come, at night, to the room you used to be in. Be quick and quiet. Keep this with you, we wouldn't want anyone to find it.
Now I know what my plans are tonight.

I walked into the room, quietly closed the door, and turned the lights on. That's when I saw him. "So it is you."
"Yes, yes it is. I bet you're wondering why, too. It's a shame that you won't get to live long enough to hear it."
I didn't feel it at first. But when I realized what had happened pain flooded my senses. I looked down, and I saw the knife protruding from my stomach. There was already a pool of blood by my feet. Blood. My blood.
He started to walk out of the door, but before he did, he whispered "never leave a paper trail."
Never leave a paper trail.
