My last day of summer had consisted of shopping with one of my best friends and greasy mall food.

"Raymie, try this one on!" My friend, Cally shouted at me from across the shop.
When I didn't come out of the dressing room, she stomped over, ignoring the dirty looks, and poked her head inside of the cubicle.
"Hi." I said, my mouth full of leftover french fries.
She glared at me and snatched the bag out of my hands.
"Hey, I was eating those!" I said.
"Raymie, put this on." She said. She pivoted around, closing the curtain behind her.
The curtain hit me, but I stood up and took my clothes off nonetheless.
"Why did I agree to this?" I wondered aloud.
I put the shirt on and looked at my reflection. It looked okay.
"Hey, I like this one," I said to Cally, finding that she was now outside of the dressing room.
"Great, let's buy it." She said.
I went back into the dressing room and put my clothes back on. I tossed the clothes over the top of the dressing room and stepped out. I walked to the counter and grabbed the bag.
"Gimme your card." Cally said.
"Can you pay for it?" I asked, giving Cally puppy eyes. "I don't feel like digging through my wallet."
She looked at me but shook her head and took out her card.
"Thanks!" I chirped.
"That'll be $30.79, ladies." The cashier said.
Cally handed her the card and she swiped it.
"It's not valid." The woman said in monotone.
"Try again." Cally said.
She swiped again.
"Not valid."
"Again."
"No-"
"Yes it is!" Cally yelled. She turned the screen around. "You just keep charging me!"
Cally grabbed her card and the bag and ripped the tag off of the shirt.
I looked at the cashier and kicked her in the shin. Cally and I stormed out of the store and out to the car. Since she took off the tag, the alarm didn't go off. When we were in the car, she took out her phone and looked up the store website.
"What are you doing?" I asked
"Calling the store and complaining."
My best friend, every one.
"Okay, whatever." I said.

Once she had called and persuaded them to fire her, she took me home.
"Hi, honey, how was your day?" My mom asked me as soon as I walked in.
"Fine but we had a whole deal with the cashier." I said.
"Wow, what happened?"
I recreated the entire debacle with the shop lady, adding motions and facial expressions. My mom was shocked by the end.
"Really?" She said, scooping some spaghetti into a bowl and handing it to me.
"Yeah, and she even called and complained." I said, grabbing the Parmesan from the fridge. "And they fired her."
My mom's eyes widened. "What?"
"Yep." I said. When I hopped back up onto the breakfast bar stool, my younger sister came in.
"Nice to see you today, Penny." My mom said, handing her a bowl of spaghetti.
She walked over and hopped onto the stool next to me.
"Sup, dork." I said. She glared at me and took the Parmesan.
"Nice pajamas." I said.
My mom turned to me.
"She hasn't taken them off all day."
Penny took her bowl out to her room.
"I don't know what's wrong with her." My mom said.
"Becoming a teenager is tiring, mom." I said. "Why do you think I'm always napping?"
We both giggled and my mom took her food to the couch to eat. I quickly ate and took a shower.
"Good night, mom!" I yelled to her from upstairs.
"Night, hon!" She called back.
I got into bed and fell asleep.
