With bullets firing at me, and my hopeless body laying behind a makeup kiosk, I was screwed. One of the men stopped firing. "Hold your fire!" The last sounds were the bullet casings hitting the floor. Then silence. "You hear that?" Asked one of the soldiers. "Yeah," one agreed. Suddenly, faint sounds of raspy screams came from the outside. I peeked my head from a small hole where a bullet hit the side of the kiosk. The soldiers lifted their guns out of the door to see what was happening. They must be more freaks coming.

It was dark outside still. "I can't see shit," yelled a soldier. The screams got louder. It was my time to leave, or I would die. Could I show them I am not one of them? Then I remembered they were killing harmless civilians. There was no reasoning. A scream blared from an woman. She was infected. She jumped onto one of the soldiers out of no where and started ripping into his body. One of the soldiers shot multiple shots at the woman, killing her. More screams blared out. "There's more!" Said a heavy voiced soldier. "What about Mitchell?" Said the younger soldier. "He's dying, look he is coughing on his blood. Leave him." What could possess these people to kill? This was crazy.

They started shooting at the monsters. I tried to see more, but I had escape. There were two soldiers left. I had to get out of this store. I looked at the door, it was wooden. I could shoot the lock. I might have to shoot the soldiers. Suddenly, one of the soldiers screamed, it was time.

I stood up and shot one of the men with the shotgun I took off the dead man. The pellets hit him in the back of the head, knocking him on his stomach. The other soldier turned around, shocked. He looked the other way seeing a more of the freaks coming his way. With my shotgun aimed at him, his gun pointed at me, he simply said, "Run." He said it softly. He ran at the herd coming our way. He shot blindly while running, then tackled one of them. The rest of them piled on him, tearing his flesh. I was sure I had to run.

I took the shotgun and ran to the door. I shot three time at the lock. It didn't budge. Two jumped off the soldier and ran at me. It wasn't over, half the lock busted. I had to apply more force to make it come off. I took the butt stock of the shotgun and hit as hard as I could. It budged half way. They were inside. One of them tripped. I hit one last time, the door broke off. I kicked the door open and slammed the door. The freaks beat on the door. I was holding the door shut with my shoulder and arm. I looked around and it was a maintenance closet. Shit. I had to let this thing in quietly and kill it. Luckily, I didn't see any more freaks coming except the two. I had to let them in, I had to. Don't do it Mike. But I had to do it. I swung the door open and slammed the butt stock of the shotgun in one of the freak's head. The other jumped on me, knocking me on my back. It had me pinned down. My hands were locked onto it's arms, keeping it from digging into my body. It screamed in my face loudly, almost deafening me. I didn't know what to do.

I was losing strength. His hands were getting closer to me. I looked to my left and there was a stack of bricks. I will not die today. The freak's body was light, so I quickly threw his body on his back. As he rolled, I hopped up and picked up a brick. The freak screamed and jumped toward me. I swung the brick and hit it in the head. The blow made a large dent in it's head. It hit the ground and sat still. I laid back, I sat still.
