I sat in the maintenance room as quiet as possible. I thought to myself the events that happened and how I just killed a man. I didn't know what to think. It didn't matter. I had to get out of this place. I looked around for an exit. There was light shining in a small window, big enough to fit in, maybe. It was too high up to jump, but I could reach it with something to step on. There was a wooden cabinet of cleaning supplies in the corner by the door. If I pushed it, it would be enough noise to alarm the other monsters in the store. I had the bag of food and a shotgun with one shell left in the chamber. It was no help. I peeked through the window and looked around for another way to get out the window. I saw an alley that led to a metal gate leading to the street. If I got through the window and ran to the military truck, I could find something that might help me. No time to waste.
I took one last time to picture exactly what I was going to do.
