"I spoke to your daughter today and while she does admit to committing the crime, she also happens to be experiencing a sever case of narcissism", Dr Frank explained to the parents of the girl he'd just had a session with. The first of many he was sure, what was wrong with the girl went beyond what she was saying something had happned that night and while it was not his job to find out what it was, He was going to try to find out what exactly had gone wrong that day.
"Dr. What exactly does that mean",the girls mother asked, "is my daughter going to be alright",she pratically wept. The father had his hands on his chest in a typical Nigerian fashion with both his face and nose scrunched up. He had not spoken since he came into the hospital and he couldn't be blamed. His daughter was accused of killing the daughter of a prominent man in the country and she'd admitted as much to him. As her doctor he was bound by the code to keep the business of his patients private, even if he hadn't been bound he wasn't sure she had committed crime, something did not sit well with him.
"Madam, for now we are doing the best we can for your daughter, with the case and all that is going on right now she is under a lot of pressure but my initial observations of her condition for now is narcissism she displayed quite a bit in our talk earlier today, I also noticed quite a bit of jealousy towards Ada".
"I just.....where did I go wrong with her.....I just don't know....her mental state nko..shey she will be alright. With everything going on now I need to know she'll be okay Dr ehh"
"Ma, I understand your confusi....", Before he could finish the statement he was cut short by the girl's father,
"Dr Frank please excuse me but you said something about jealousy towards Ada, what do you mean by that".
"Well, your daughter talked quite a bit about Ada and the jealously was apparent, there was a lot of talk about how she resented Ada because of her money". The man grew quiet again, probably thinking about where he had gone wrong as a father.
"For now Mr and Mrs Collins, I can't say much more from my session with your daughter because I am bound by confidentiality. I do intend to have more sessions with her though"
"I just....where does the money come from to cover the cost of both her stay in the hospital and her treatment", Mrs Collins lamented, "With the trial and hiring a lawyer to represent us, we've had to dip into our savings eh doctor, wetin we go do now eh. Our insurance only covers four more sessions".
"Unfortunately I cannot help you in that area but I will do what I can in the upcoming sessions to help your daughter"
Sighing heavily the woman nods and with her shoulder slumped she looks to her husband signaling that it was time to leave, the man who had not spoken since the last time he did looked at his wife then into the wall with a faraway look in his eyes before leaving.
"Thank you doctor we will be back next week to check on her o"
"Good bye ma, let me walk you out"
