Can I just say, I never thought I'd get here. It's weird I almost never finish my stories, I have a bunch of them lying around all over the place both in Nigeria and Florida and some just swimming in my head. It's a mess up there, my head that is. This note is long, sorry.

"Collins, you have a visitor in the waiting room"
"Is it my parents", She still hadn't been allowed to see her dad, who from the letters her mom wrote wasn't doing any better. Mild stroke my ass she thought.
"No its your lawyer, sorry dear". This orderly, Margert, this one she liked.
"It's fine, wasn't expecting them anyway" She coverd up quickly giving the woman a quick smile. She wasn't buying it though, she still pitied her.
"Peter, what an unexpected and unwanted surprise" She said cheerily, then more desoerately, "Let's walk in the gardens I haven't been all week nobody visited me"
"Of course, let me just inform a nurse or something"
"Of course" She was in a mood, she needed answers, Peter was wasteing time looking for a nurse. Finally he found one.
"Yes um, Rita and I are going for a stroll"
"Hospital grounds only", the nurse replied. They were all so miserable, this nurses, never cracking a smile. Or maybe it was just her.
"Of course, come on Rita let's go, so how are you"
"Cut the bullshit Peter, I want to see my father. When can I do so"
"Ahh yes, I was going to talk to you about that"
"So?
"The judge agreed, but only for two hours and it has to be today"
"Peter, I love you. As long as I see my parents, it could be two minutes, I don't care"
"Yes, I'm glad, you're happy. Your next court date, we should talk about that" A little flushed that she said she loved him.
"Do we have to, I'm having such a nice time now" They were passing by a rose bush at that moment. Stopping dead in her tracks, she whispered,
"so beautiful, so deadly"
"Rita"
"Hmmm"
"We really should talk"
"Fine, what else do you want to know"
"I spoke to Frank, he said you had a dream about two people being in the room not just one"
"Yes? I did, Frank knows this"
"Hmmm, if only there was a way to prove this. Preliminary reports say that there were only two people in the room, you and Ada" Scoffing, she wasn't suprised. What was that song by NWA, Ah yes, Fuck the police. It applied here. They were incompetent and constantly took bribes. Of course the preliminary report was wrong. Probably changed by someone at the station, a higher power she was sure. They were the worst.
"Has anybody stopped to question, why I would be in a room much less and entire apartment with Ada, alone? We couldn't stand each other. She wouldn't touch me with gloves on and I wouldn't touch her with a ten foot pole. Everyone knew this"
"There were no signs of a party and the neighbours reported no noise that night"
"I don't know Peter. I can't remember the events leading up to her death just fragments, there could have been a party I don't know"
"Like you said the two of you being together alone should have been questioned. Besides you were found unconcious when the arrived. Do you have friends who can testify and say you two didn't roll around in the same circles". He didn't know it but he'd touched a soft spot. Friends she hadn't seen any since she was put in this hell hole. Since her family's name was dragged through the mud.
"I don't" She replied curtly. Moving past some hibiscus flowers now to sit on a bench
"I haven't spoken to any since my admittance to the hospital"
"Oh I'm sorry then"
"Don't pity me, I'm better off anyway"
"Ah yes, of course", he pitied her she knew, the bastard.
" I have some connections at the police station see if I can talk to the officers that took care of the the crime scene"
"Ok, I don't know what good that does though"
"I'm sure someone will fess up, with the right amount of pressure"
"You mean the right kind of pressure"
"Well yes" adjusting his tie. He was clearly uncomfortable talking about bribing police officers.
"Peter you are so stuffy, how old are you, 24, 20, 26"
"25"
"Well you're not so young, it's nothing new in this country you know, money works, money speaks. I'm not saying we give any one bribes though, I'd rather cut off my left boob and I'm quite attached to it"
"I know you weren't implying that"
"Good, when can we leave to see my parents then"
"In an hour, if you're ready"
"I will be, walk me back to the hospital then"
"Peter"
"Hmmm"
"What did you think about the rose,I'm quite like them aren't I? Beauty and pain all in one"
"I guess, you are beautiful"
"Hmm, you are a bore Peter. Next time indulge me"

Ajegunle, Lagos
Lagos was her city and Ajegunle was her town. It was a messy place, she never liked it, it was the hood. She was however very proud of it for some weird reason. She couldn't explain it, the gutter ran over in some places. The trash was kept for way too long before the trash men came, but it was home and she loved and hated it at the same time.
It'd been too long since she was home. She almost cried at the sight of her parents house Emotions and memories they were everywhere. Eight months, since she was last here, it was too much.
"Are you okay" Peter asked worry etched into his features.
"Yes, I am"
They had attracted a crowd, everyone wanted a glimpse of her. She was infamous afterall.
For the first time in months she caught sight of her mother, coming from the market it looked like. She had a polythene bag in her hand, it looked heavy. She looked tired, her mom.
"Mummy, let me", She took the bag from her shocked mother
"Is daddy around"
"Um yes, what are you doing here"
"The judge let me come home for a few hours. To see you and daddy, is he okay" they were walking towards the house now. Almost in. The crowd had intensified, more people wanting a glimpse of her. Her dad would not like this.
"He's getting better, he should be sleeping" They were in now, away from the maddening crowd.
"Rita we have an hour left"
"What's he talking about"
"The judge let me out for two hours only"
"Oh, let's see your dad then, I'll go wake him up"
"No need I'm awake, Rita my baby"
"Daddy"
"Come here" for a whole five minutes they were like this in each other's arms, no talking. Her mom had joined too. They were a family again. For those minutes the world faded, didn't exist. Till her dad pushed her away to look at her.
"Daddy I'm sorry for everything, I'm so sorry, mom I'm sorry". She couldn't stand it, the emotions, so she ran to the parked car with the hospital logo on it, entered and told the driver to take her back. Peter was talking to her parents, comforting them she was sure. He was a good person, Peter
