Two days pass in a flash. Lilly knew that tomorrow she and her brother would be separated for good. Lucky for her, when the night hit, she would have a full proof plan to get them out of there.

Logan still hasn't opened his presents. He was hoping to give them away to the kids at the orphanage. He would keep the smashed one to his heart though knowing it was the last thing he got from his parents. He too knew that once he got to the orphanage he wouldn't be able to stay with Lilly. Lilly kept her mouth shut most of the day because she was trying to make her plan full proof. When she knew the time was right she told Logan about the plan. Of course at first Logan thought her plan was crazy and insane, but he went along with it because he didn't was to be separated from his sister. While he knew the police men weren't looking he combined his and Lilly's suitcases. He even was able to fit his special present in the corner of the suitcase.

The night time shift of police men arrived, Lilly and Logan snuck out through the bathroom window. It was hard to get the suitcase through the tiny window without making a sound but they managed. They had to wait till the police men were talking so load that they couldn't hear the noise. They got really lucky that no one walked into the bathroom.

After dropping into the ally, Lilly and Logan walked about five blocks to a different ally. They placed their suitcase behind the dumpster. Logan hopped into it looking for something to use as a blanket and a sharp object. He found an old blanket that had many holes in it, it was too small for both of them to use so he let Lilly use it. Logan also found a broken knife but it was sharp enough to help them protect themselves.

Back at the station everyone was panicking. They had no clue where the kids had gone. They called up a day shift cop that was going to adopt them. She was upset to hear the news. She knew how dangerous it was to drive because of how tired she was. She told herself she'd call in late so she could start on a head search for the kids.

The cop lived in a rich neighborhood close to a great school. For the past day she had been preparing for their arrival. Her husband had the great idea of adopting them. She had been tried from a long day at work and brought up Lilly and Logan in a conversation the day they arrived at the station. The couple were good people. The husband worked at the school and was loved by all his students. It was really disappointing that their soon to be children ran away.

In the morning, Lilly got hungry. Logan was still asleep so she walked to the back of a restaurant and knocked on the door hoping someone would answer. A guy opened the door and said," Scram rat. We don't feed unless you have money." Lilly looked down," Please sir our lives only ask for a small loaf of bread, nothing more." A lady who also worked in the kitchen saw what was going on and handed Lilly two loafs of bread," Here you go sweaty. Sorry for the big Meany. These are on me k?" Lilly smiled and nodded," Thank you miss your so kind." Logan ran over to Lilly, after searching for her, and dragged her away from the door. The two workers stared at them. "What are you thinking? Do you want to go to an orphanage? Do you want to live life without me?" Logan said trying not to make a seen. Lilly shook her head. "Okay then, we can't just walk into allies, knocking on doors and asking for food," Logan explained. Lilly lowered her head. She didn't know what to say to her brother. The two workers watching came and asked," What happened to your parents?" Logan looked at them then the ground," That's none of your business. So if you don't mind we'll be leaving." Lilly asked the kind people," Why do you want to know?" Logan pulled on Lilly's arm and walked off before the two could answer. Lilly followed without any restraint or wanting to hear the answer. The two workmen ran back inside when they heard their food burning. When they went back out to chase after the kids, there was no trace of them.

When Logan and Lilly got back to where they slept, Logan broke one loaf of bread in half. He took one half then broke it again into two more halves. He gave the biggest fourth peace to Lilly and the other one he ate. Lilly was glad she got the food to eat.

After they both were done eating, Lilly picked up the suitcase, "So where to now?" "We get out of this town. It's going to take a few hours but at least we know that we will be less likely to get caught," Logan said as he started to walk. Lilly following close behind him.

When the cop awoke, she hurried to her car. She didn't even change out of her pajamas. She tried to tell her work that she was sick, but she forgot her phone at home. She drove around town looking for the two kids, but no one had a clue where they were. Too bad for her, the two had already made it out of town. She then decided to question the shops instead of people just walking about the streets. No one had. On her last attempt before giving up, she questioned a restaurant. To her surprise, once she walked up to the cashier and spoke of Lilly and Logan, two people from the kitchen walked up and said that they had seen them. She was relieved to hear that they were given food and didn't seem hurt at all.
