Lilly and Logan walked for miles just to find the next town. They had to walk through the woods just to make sure no police men were going to capture them on their journey away. Lilly complained most of the way, saying that her feet hurt and she wanted to take a small break. Logan thought that if they stopped the police would have more time to ketch up. "If we stop now that gives them more of a chance on finding us, so we have to keep going," Logan explained a few feet ahead of Lilly. Lilly sighed and didn't say another word until she couldn't handle the pain anymore. Of course Logan said the same thing just to make sure she kept going.
It took them a whole day just to reach another town. "I can see lights up ahead, Lilly. We're almost there," Logan said excited. At that point Lilly took off running. Logan tried to follow, but the suitcase got caught on a tree. Lilly didn't notice, she just kept running. It took Logan a good minute before he was able to free the suitcase from the trees clutches. Once he had the chance he darted after Lilly. He caught up with Lilly pretty face since she had stopped and stared at the town below the giant hill they were on. "Ready?" Lilly asked. "Ready Logan replied.
They raced down to the city together. Logan had picked the suitcase up into his arms so that he could run a little faster. Lilly was the one to make it to the city first. "I'll.......get.......you.......next.....time," Logan said clearly out of breath. Lilly smiled," Sure you will." Logan had placed the suitcase down and caught his breath. Lilly then took Logan's hand and walked to an empty ally. They both sighed in relief.
"We can only stay here for three days before we have to move to the next town," Logan explained. "But why?" Lilly asked. "If we stay here too long, I'm sure that someone would start to get suspicious and ask what's up," Logan told her hoping she'd understand. Lilly nodded. Lilly then took a look at the food supply," Uh...Logan I don't think we have enough food to make it three days. So what are we going to do?" Logan pounded. He couldn't find out a single solution. "I don't know," he finally told her. Lilly thought of a single idea," Why don't you find a small job to get food?" "But who would hire me for three days?" he asked himself. Unfortunately for him a man overheard their conversation and decided to bud in," I'd give you a job, since you're running from the police anyway." Lilly looked at the strange man. He was hidden in the shadows. His figure seemed to be slim and about 6"6. As he walked toward the kids his scent burned their noses with the scent of cigarettes. His cloths seemed old and worn. His dark brown hair seemed to be a mess or just his own style. He kept his hands in his pockets and had a small lean to his side. His eyes glowed blue. Instantly Lilly thought his eyes were fake. "Hey mister," Lilly spoke with her head tilted," Are your eyes fake?" The man chuckled," As fake as your hair, my dear." Logan wasn't too happy about this strange man saying that to his sister, but he let it slide this time.
"So what's the job about?" Logan asked hiding his anger by making his hands into fists and nearly turning his knuckles white. "I give you a package and you take it to where I say. Someone would hand you money if their happy with it. You return back to me and I'll give you half the money. If you split it or count it by yourself you get nothing. Simple enough right?" Logan nodded, "As long as you promise you're not messing with me then I'll take it." Lilly had a conserved look on their face when the two shook hands.
"Okay," said the strange man," Since you're my new co-worker, you get to live at my house until you wish to leave." Logan didn't argue, but Lilly had something to say," How are we going to trust you? You could be kidnapping us right now, or you could be planning on doing something to us." "Well if you don't trust me then you can stay out here and have drug dealers rob you and have homeless men rape you," the man said as he walked away. Logan still holding back his anger towards the man, he muttered something under his breath and took Lilly's hand. The man looked at them and smiled," Okay then, let's go." The man started walking and Lilly grabbed the suitcase before being dragged away from it.
It was a long walk to the stranger's house. On the way there he told them to call him George. He told them that his friends call him Big Daddy but it was obviously a joke. When they arrived at his home, it was a two story town house. It had cream colored walls and bricks on the outside. This man seemed magical because when they walked into the house it was like a mansion. He had owned all of the houses connected to the one they had walked into. He connected all the homes by taking out a few walls and putting up supports so the roof wouldn't fall in. He had all kinds of fancy things that decorated his house. At least the main one. He had a white tiger print carpet placed in his living room with soft tiger printed furniture. He had a 50" TV hanging on the wall. When they walked into the kitchen it was like the whole kitchen was from a TV show. Everything was so easy to find. His counters were a lightly darker shade of cream. His cabinets and doors were painted brown. He told them they were never allowed in the master bedroom. Lilly really wanted to know what was in there but she didn't disobey him. He brought them upstairs to find two bedrooms straight across from each other with a bathroom in between. He told them that this was theirs and we could stay as long as they wanted but they had to find their own food. Still Logan insisted that they leave in three days. Lilly pleased with Logan to stay a little longer because she loved her new room. It had a bed freshly made with two marshmallow pillows. In the corner of the room was a 30" TV sitting on a small dresser. On the opposite side of the room was a working desk. Lilly didn't care why he had these two rooms set up but she really did like them. Logan's room was just the same except he had a chest at the end of the bed. Lilly went through all the doers and anything else she could find to open. Nothing, no cloths, no toys, no food. Just a dust bunny under the bed.
As she was exploring her room George had given Logan a job already. George walked into the master bedroom, grabbed a package, and a pocket knife. Logan looked at George, as he walked out of the master bedroom, with a curious look," What's with the knife?" George knelt down to look at Logan in the eyes," Some clients aren't so nice to the sender. I had lost by best friend to a client because he wasn't too happy about what he was getting. Now, I double check what I give to the sender to make sure it doesn't happen again. The knife is just in case purposes." Logan wasn't able to say a word about the story. He thought his questions were too personal. Logan waved goodbye to George before heading out the door.
George called down to Lilly when Logan has been gone for 15 minutes. He handed her a towel and shampoo plus body wash. He told her to go take a long nice bath to relieve my stress. "May I ask why, George?" "I'll have a surprise for you when you come out k?" he said smiling. Lilly nodded then said okay. She skipped upstairs and into the bathroom. She made sure to close and locked the door behind her just to make sure George wouldn't walk in.
It was about thirty minutes before she got out. George was right, it did relieve her stress. She walked out the bathroom fully dressed and the towel folded in her arms. To her surprise he was standing outside the bathroom door. He was holding some cloths folded neatly. He took the towel out of Lilly's arms then handed her the cloths. "Will you please try these on?" he asked politely. She thought nothing of it and nodded. She walked into her room and locked her door behind her. Before she fully closed her door she looked into her brother's new room and found him sitting on his bed cleaning a cut along his cheek. She became really worried but I did what George had asked me. She walked out wearing the brand new jeans that fit really well on her legs and a slightly tight white shirt. "It looks nice on you. Now through a little dirt on you and you'd look just like a street kid," He said jokingly. She smiled then looked at her brother who now had a big band aid over the cut, "Is my brother alright? What happened to him?" George got on both his knees and placed his arms upon my shoulders," Your brother is alright he just cut his face son something from the job."
Later that night Lilly couldn't help but think that her brother was in danger. When she asked how much he got paid today he asked her to leave him alone politely. She didn't want to make him mad at her so she did what he asked. Living in this huge house with George is great and all but if it means that her brother's life is in danger, she'd rather leave.
