At 8 the people start to come. Cars upon cars are parked. Emily bursts through my bedroom door where I was playing zombies on Black Ops 2.
"Come help me set this up." Emily whines.
"What?" I ask not turning away from the game.
"Come help me set up." She says again.
"What'd you say?" I say, concealing a laugh.
"Oh my god, Cas. I know you heard me. Now come help me set this party up. There's already people here and they're starting to complain." Emily exclaims with frustration.
"Why don't you have Hunter help you? You said he'd be here, we both know that you have him under your little grimy hands." I smirk.
"Get off your damn game and come help me." She storms out of my room and slams my door.
"Someone's prissy." I mumble as I return to slaying zombies and yelling at the screen when I die.
Not one minute later there's a knock at the door.
"Come in," I grumble. The knock continues.
"Is there a Cas in there?" A soft voice mutters.
"Yes," I say louder. "Come in please, I'm playing a game that I can't pause." The door creaks open and a guy sheepishly walks in.
"Zombies, nice. Um, Emily needs your help. She can't find any big bowls for the food."
"Have you played this before?" I briefly look over at him. He has a small build and brown eyes with dark brown hair.
"Yeah, it's Die Rise." He squeaks.
"Okay, play for me. And please don't die. Oh, and hold up on the roof. Just put the trample steam at the window that's to your back and you'll be set."
"Um..Okay." He says unsure. I hand him the controller and fly out of my room, which caused me to run straight into Hunter.
"Really, Cas. You're happy to see me." Hunter laughs.
"I'm actually going to see your child of a girl friend," I choke on the word girlfriend. "She can't find where the bowls are at." I say softly while stepping away and heading downstairs, getting away from that awkward situation.
"Emily," I shout while sifting through the growing crowd.
"Cas, I found the bowls. Hunter was supposed to tell you." I hear her yell bitterly from behind me. Sighing I shove my way to the stairs. I didn't see Hunter come down. Slowly, I walk up and away from the growing party. The second I make it to the top stairs the loud music starts and all the noise gets drown out. I book it to my room and open the closed door. Behind it I see Hunter playing zombies and that kid sitting next to him telling him what to do.
"What's going on?" I grunt while closing the door.
"Um, he wanted to play. And, you know, he's really tough looking, and..."
"It's alright." I grab a couple of blankets and pillows and sit next to Hunter. "Have you died yet?"
"Of course I haven't, Cas. I'm the one who taught you how to play." Hunter replies with a laugh and a smug smile. I hit him on the shoulder.
"As if, I was the one who taught you." I scoff. "You guys want some blankets? Pillows?"
"Gimme one." Hunter practically screams.
"I'll take a pillow." The shy person says quietly.
Handing him his pillow, "What's your name, I never caught it."
"Greg. Um, do I have to stay in here? I kinda came for the party, and not so much gaming. Although gaming is great." He shyly says.
"Oh, yeah you can leave. No one's holding you." Greg gets up and leaves me alone with Hunter.
"I know you have another controller, we can restart and you can join in." Hunter suggests after a long awkward moment.
"Yeah, and I'll get more points than you." I dare while getting out another controller. We played zombies for a while without saying a word.
"Emily broke up with me," Hunter burst out.
"Oh. Um, sorry to hear?" I question.
"Yeah," I look into his light blue eyes. "Doesn't really bother me though. She cheated on me the whole time." He shrugs.
"That's sad to hear."
"Ehh, she wanted to be single for the party. There's people from all over here. Maybe she'll get AIDS tonight." We laugh.
"Being single is weird."
"I've only been single for a day and a half." He chuckles.
"So, Emily was your rebound, huh?" I smirk with a small laugh.
"Exactly," He gets down from a hoard of zombies.
"Really? You could've thrown a monkey or even a grenade. I'm on the other side of the map, Hunter." I yell.
"Oh well." he shrugs and laughs at my frustration.
"You..Just. No." I exhale with frustration while running from a herd.
"You always did get mad at games, Cas. I love it." I can just hear the smile on his lips.
"You love it?!" I exaggerate with a roll of the eyes.
"Well, I love a lot of things about you. Like how your face lights up when I'm around or how you smile or your laugh, and I love all your little things." Hunter rambles. My cheeks get red as I blush.
"Oh." I barely manage through the shock.
"Yeah." He looks at me and smiles. "I always have, Cas. When I saw you, which was when you moved here, I had a crush on you. And then we had those classes together, and all those lunches sitting next to each other. And when we went on that first date, I just got lost in your dark brown eyes." I can feel the warmth in his words. How true they are. I take a long, deep breath. There's a long pause.
"Cas, I still like, no... I still love you." He blurts proudly. The air leaves my lungs. Leaving me breathless.
