Vampires and werewolves had always hid in the shadows, fearing the humans. Fearing that they would kill them all off, but knowing that at any minute they could overpower them all. They never did, only wanted a peaceful coexistence. Well, twenty years ago, the humans started a war. A war they did not know would last ten years or more. When the U.S. started to realize they might lose the war when other countries started creating powerful machine weapons and having their vampire and werewolf population help aid in their wars, the U.S. created a more lethal, more primal weapon—vampire-werewolf hybrids and they began to win.
Ten years later, and the war was done, but they were still creating more hybrids for future purposes and scientific research.
"Now, sweetheart, are you going to act out again?" a man with a deep voice asked. He had always made us call him Master. I looked up to him, glaring. The sadistic smile on his face was sick. He was enjoying making me hurt. His mud-brown eyes were focused on me in a way they should not have been. There was desire and it was obvious in his pants and the smell he gave off. He was sweating.
I forced a half smile after licking the blood off my lip and said, "Go fuck yourself."
"Again." He looked at the man sitting at the computer controlling the electrical impulses being sent into my body.
"Sir, we're pushing a dangerous level," a man just barely twenty-two said. "This could kill her."
I'd seen this guy with others and he always seemed to realize that we weren't just things. We did have feelings and physical pain did bother us. We may have been close to invincible but we did get hurt.
"James, again."
The man looked at me, his hazel eyes hurting for me, but he hit the button and pain rocketed through my body. It was almost too much for me to handle but I shoved through the pain, knowing that I couldn't let him win.
When the shocks stopped, I felt my body slump over. I brought my head back up and looked at Master.
"Let her go for now. She's learned her lesson for the day."
Two large human men dressed in black with guns strapped to them released my chains and caught me before I hit the floor and carried me out of the torture room and outside of the building. Once outside the building they dropped me on the ground and turned back around.
Slowly, I stood back up and began to walk back to the cafeteria where I'd left my little sister and friend.
"Allison!" Arianna screamed as she ran across the room to me. She was as innocent and sweet as could be. She hadn't seen the horrific things that happened inside the human's buildings. And it would stay that way as long as I was around to protect her. She wasn't my real sister, but she might as well have been. We'd been together since she was born and her mother had made me promise I'd take care o f her. I had been sixteen, the age Ari was now, when her mother had been shipped off to another camp with Ari's father.
Arianna smacked into me, hugging me. I bit back a growl as pain shuddered through me. "Allison, are you okay? They just took you."
"I'm fine, Ari. Just a routine. Did you eat?"
She nodded, staring up at me with big blue eyes.
"Good. Run back to class. I don't want you to be late. You'll get into trouble." Though we were bred and raised in captivity, the humans did provide us with an education system. We were taught about the enemy and taught how to fight. We were taught how to talk and how to be proper in case of dealing with another camp.
Ari hugged me again and took off to class. She knew if she was late, she'd get into trouble and that I had been there enough to not want her to deal with what they did.
