Phil

As Phil's alarm rang out at a loud volume on a Monday morning, his eyes immediately shot open. This is the day he's been waiting for, for months. He threw the covers off his bed and was greeted with a cold chill which caused goosebumps to appear along his long legs and arms. He quickly rushed to his wardrobe and got changed into some black jeans and a plaid shirt. After brushing his teeth and fixing his hair he hurried downstairs with his heavy bags and greeted his mum good morning.

"Morning!" He called, before quickly putting a few slices of toast in the toaster.

"Are you excited by any chance?" His mum chuckled from her seat by the dining room table.

"I am actually, I need to hurry though because Pj is picking me up in fifteen minutes, I should have set my alarm sooner" Phil frowned at the thought of his misjudgement, before quickly checking through his bags to make sure he wasn't forgetting anything.

"You be careful out there okay? And behave yourself obviously"

"Mum, I'm twenty three now, I love you and all but I have gotten through life fine so far!" Phil replied.

"Hm, that's why you're still living with your mother" Phil's mum commented, to which the younger boy didn't actually hear, fortunately.

After fifteen minutes had passed, Pj came knocking at Phil's door.

Phil opened the door with a smile, and his mum came and stood next to him.

"Right boys, behave okay?" She said for the second time in the past twenty minutes, which caused Phil to roll his eyes and earn a laugh off Pj. "Give me a kiss Philip" She turned to Phil and gently pulled his head down, still having to stand on her toes to reach him.

When Phil had gotten into Pj's car he automatically felt a wave of freedom over him. He loved his mum, he really did, but sometimes he struggled to cope with the fact she was still a mothering figure to him all the time and felt he needed some independence.

Phil felt a mix of emotions when they boarded the ferry. He was nervous but also feeling confident and excited to be trying something new. He looked around anxiously, making sure he stuck close to Pj.

"Are you alright Phil?" Pj asked him.

"Yeah, we're on a boat remember?" Phil replied and tried not to be rude. He didn't like boats, they scared him and he didn't enjoy the feeling of being on water.

"Oh right yeah. Stick with me and we'll get something to drink, come on"

The taller boy was glad he had a best friend who was confident like Pj, as sometimes he wasn't. Pj and Phil had been friends ever since nursery, and have pretty much been inseparable ever since. However, these days they just found themselves playing video games and still living with their parents, so they decided to do something about that.

After the ferry stopped Phil was relieved, he's never been a fan of boats and tries to avoid them as often as possible. They both stumbled off quickly with the big mass of people also trying to leave the boat.

"Phil look out for a person stood outside a black car. That's our ride" Pj announced, and Phil nodded slowly whilst scanning the big crowd, luckily there wasn't many cars so Pj's brief instructions weren't that bad. He nudged the smaller man before pointing to the car and they both headed towards it.

"You guys must be Philip and Pj!" The tall, dark haired man smiled and shook both their hands one at a time.

"You can call me Phil"

The journey was short but the two men took their time to admire the clear summer skies and scenery before they got to their destination.

After a half hour journey, the car drew to a stop in a sandy car park with a few different cars scattered around. They both got out of the car and took in what was around them, then followed the man towards some gates, with a sign above, reading:

"CAMP WHITE"
