Phil felt quite happy the next day, getting out of bed with a bounce in his step and a smile on his face. Pj wondered why he was being so jolly.
"Phil, are you okay?" He said amused, and Phil chuckled.
"Yes I am, I had a great sleep and I'm excited for our activities today" He replied, still smiling whilst making some coffee.
Phil felt relaxed and his anxiety felt low. Yesterday made him realise his doubts about this camp shouldn't exist as he's making friends and having fun, and that's why he came to be a leader. Once he'd finished his coffee he stood up and gathered some fresh clothes.
"I'm going to shower before breakfast!" He called to Pj, who yelled a quick 'okay' before Phil left the cabin. The cabins were lovely but the only problem was that there wasn't any showers in them. To have a shower you must go outside to the shower block, which can be quite awkward when you're in your pyjamas or for some people, unlike Phil, even less.
When Phil got to the shower block, he could hear humming coming from the shower next to the one he was going to use. Every so often he could make out a few words of the song but it was mostly inaudible. He recognised the voice but he didn't want to seem rude or awkward by asking who it was so he just got into his shower stall after hanging his towel up and undressed. When he started his shower the voice got louder, either trying to be annoying or they thought Phil couldn't hear now there's two showers running. However, Phil could hear and he thought it was rather funny.
Once Phil could make out the words, he realised it was a song he really liked, a song by Muse. The voice quietened a bit and he heard the shower switch off. Even though Phil was practically done showering, he couldn't bring himself to step out when there was someone outside his stall, so he carried on washing himself slowly. After about five minutes he was almost positive the person had gone and he turned the shower off, grabbing the towel from around the curtain and drying himself before wrapping it around his lower half.
As Phil stepped out to retrieve his clothes from the rack beside the shower, he realised that no, the person had not left and was stood outside the showers by the mirror, his upper body bare and his back facing Phil, muscles slightly taught as he moved his arms above his head, rubbing the towel through his brown hair.
"Dan?"
The younger boy spun round quickly, obviously not realising Phil was stood there.
"Oh, hey Phi-"
"You like Muse?" Phil interrupted quickly, he was excited he may have something in common with Dan again.
"Hello to you too" Dan said with a chuckle, "And yes, I do, I love Muse. Do you?"
"Yeah, they're my favourite band" Phil said, ducking his head slightly. "None of my friends like them really so it's nice to know someone who does"
Phil felt slightly awkward with them both standing there, alone with just towels on their torsos. He didn't understand why though, it was a normal thing to do in a shower room, and although Phil wasn't overly confident in his body, he never felt the need to cover up as much as he did now.
"Your hair's curly" Phil noticed, and Dan's cheeks went a shade of pink.
"Uh yeah, I straighten it though because I don't like it" He replied, looking at the floor, obviously embarrassed that Phil has seen his hair in it's natural state.
"It looks pretty" Phil said before stuttering, "I- uh I meant, you shouldn't straighten it, it suits you natural"
To the older boy's relief, Dan didn't seem awkward or offended and just laughed.
"I've never been called pretty before, but thanks, I'll keep that in mind"

After breakfast Pj and Phil went down to the hall to find out what their activities were going to be. Phil's group were instructed to stay at the hall, and the other groups were lead off by their main leaders to the places their activities would be held.
Joey stood on the stage in front of the screen and blew his whistle, catching everyone's attention.
"Right guys! Today we are going to be dancing!"
There was mixed emotions around the hall. Phil was one that felt pretty disgusted with the idea. He hated dancing, he had no co ordination or rhythm, causing him to not be very good at it either.
Once everyone was in their lines, spread out enough so people wouldn't bump into eachother, Joey started setting up the wii. He explained that everyone was going to dance but they'll all take turns at holding the remotes and getting the scores.
Phil saw that Dan had taken the place next to him and took a step to the left to speak to him.
"I hope your dancing is as good as your singing" He said.
"You bet it is" Dan said, and winked at Phil. Phil just had his fingers crossed that Dan wouldn't look over and see his horrific dancing beside him.
~~~
During the lunch break, Dan and Phil sat together.
"You're not too bad actually" Phil said, and Dan thanked him.
"Same goes for you, Philly." He laughed and Phil blushed at the nickname.
"I'm actually an awful dancer."
"You're not"
"I am"
"Okay you are. But I'm sure you have other good qualities"
"I can only dance when I'm drunk" Phil laughed, "Well, I don't know if I'm any better than usual but I care less"
That made Dan laugh, and Phil loved the way his eyes crinkled and he could see the dimple on his cheek. Dan was a lovely person to be around.
"You're funny, Phil Lester"
"How's that?" the black haired boy questioned.
"Your innocence is endearing" Dan replied, taking a bite out of his apple. "I could never imagine you drunk" He said casually.
Phil got slightly confused at that. He didn't seem all that innocent did he? It embarrassed him slightly as Dan was a few years younger, but he forgot about it quickly as he remembered Dan said he was endearing.
"Oh really?"
"Yeah, really" Dan giggled and that made Phil's heart swell. He had lots of endearing qualities too but Phil wasn't quite ready to admit to that yet.
"Want to come over to my cabin tonight?"
The question took Phil by surprise. Did he want to go to Dan's cabin? He thought about how he barely knows this boy.
"We have a day off tomorrow, the older leaders take the campers to do a 'whole camp activity' as they call it, so it doesn't really matter if we have a late night, we won't need the energy tomorrow. We can play some board games, watch a film, have popcorn and a few drinks, it'll be fun!" Dan said, he seemed like he was trying to hard to get Phil to say yes. Phil remembered how he said he had a cabin by himself, so maybe he felt a bit lonely.
"I'll have to ask Pj if he's doing anything, I can't leave him alone all night"
"Yeah, yeah of course-"
"Okay then"
ahh bonding over Muse and Dan's curly hair, how cliche for a fanfic.
