11: Drowning

I run the brush through my hair and pull it up into bun. I gaze at the ground and bite my lip. I shake my head and take my hair down. I brush it again and throw the brush on the ground. I hear a knock on the door.

"Jane?"

"Come in Neveah." She walks in and sits beside. She hangs her head, hair blocking her face.

"I need to tell you something, promise that you won't get mad?"

"Why would I get mad Neveah?" She slowly lifts her head. Her eyes glowing a bright gold. I caress the side of her fave with my hand.

"I did something, something horrible."

"That's okay."

"My eyes, they're different." I rub my thumb against her cheek bone.

"But still beautiful, just like the rest of you." I state.

"What'll happen to me during the lunar eclipse?"

"You'll be powerless."

I stare at my laptop in the corner and sigh. I pick it up and log onto Skype. I click on Jackson and wait. I bite my lip and lay back.

"Tabby?" I slightly smile and sit up looking at the screen.

"Hey Jack." I greet.

"What's the matter?" He asks.

"Nothing, I'm fine. I just wanted to talk. Ya know?"

"Tabby, tell me. I swear I will kill the bastard that did this."

"I'm fine, besides, you're in London, I highly doubt you could get here, especially with this storm."

"Trust me, I would go to the ends of this Earth for you Tabby."

"Do you remember what it was like before you left? What you said?"

"Of course I do. I meant every word of it. I was hoping you came with me, but you have Scott and Neveah now."

"I'm not even sure about that."

"What did he do?"

"Nothing, we just haven't been talking much. I mean yeah we share a room, but we don't exactly talk much anymore."

"Do you need me to come back? I will."

"I'll make it. I promise. I just thought it'd be nice to talk to you."

I close my eyes and draw a bath. I leave my hair down and start taking off my clothes. I turn the cold water off and watch the steam rise. When the tub is full, I turn off the water and step in. I lay back and feel the water burn my skin. I inhale deeply and slowly slide under. My eyes open underwater and glow. Steam rises off the water and fills the room. I sit up and run my hands through my hair, that's completely dry, along with the rest of my body. I put my hand in the water and pull it out, still dry. I glance at my body, fully clothed. I turn around and furrow my eyebrows. I open the door and look around. I step down into the main part of the vault and spin around.

"Hello?" I call. "Anyone here? Hello?" I walk toward the wall where Scott and Derek broke through and jump through. I climb down the ladder and flip onto the ground. I walk to my house and sit at the mirror. I pick up my phone and hold it to my ear.

"TJ, you need to wake up." Vernon says.

"I really wish you were here." I state.
