"Baby! I've missed you!"
I chuckle. "Mom, it's only been a month."
My grandmother smiles and pulls me in a long, warm hug. She pulls back and pinches my cheeks. "A month too long. And it's nice to see you too, Kacy!"
He smiles and accepts he hug she pushes onto him. "Me too. It has definitely been a month too long."
She backs up and puts her hands on her hips giving me a face that says, "I told you so". She notices the last person and her happy face falters. She gives me a quick glance before introducing herself. "Hello. I don't believe we've met before. I'm Reeve's mom. Who are you?" She adds with a bit of sass.
Kacy giggles.
"My name is Jack. I'm Kacy's boyfriend." He holds his hand out for her to shake.
She just glances at it then turns around and walks away. "Dinner is almost ready. Will you be spending the night, Reeve?"
"Yeah. I'm ahead in my classes, so it should be fine."
We follow her to the kitchen where my grandfather is cooking. He is the cook and she is the cleaner. My grandmother couldn't cook if her life depended on it.
He looks over as we enter the kitchen and a big smile appears on his always angry looking face. "Reeve, my boy! You're late!"
We all laugh. "I know. I'm sorry."
"Kacy! Who's that with you?"
"This is my boyfriend, Jack. He wanted to come meet you guys since you are like my other pair of parents," Kacy jokes.
Grandpa's smile falters a bit, by the hides it by facing the food on the stove again. "It's nice to meet you, Jake! Welcome to our home! Dinner will be done soon!" My grandfather yells. He does that a lot. He says he's old and now he has a reason to do it and can falsely blame it on bad hearing.
"Ugh, Dad. It's Jack. Not Jake," I correct him. We all go to the living room, leaving my grandpa to finish dinner without disruptions.

"Are you threatening me, fat fuck?" He hisses in a whisper. He has me backed into he wall, but I try not to show that he intimidates me. He's only a few inches taller than me. I need to try and stay strong. Especially for this.
"Yes. I am. I know you're hitting him. He doesn't deserve to be treated the way you're treating him. You need to stop, or else," I warn. Wow. What an empty threat. What am I going to do?
He chuckles lowly and gives me a menacing smirk. "'Or else', what? You're going to sit on me? Maybe you should mind your own business, lard bucket. He's moving to my house, so he must enjoy the way I treat him. If not, why else would he still be with me?"
"You're probably threatening him!" I whisper yell. "He's scared, most likely!"
He smiles evilly. "As he should be. There's a lot about me to be scared of. He's a smart guy. If he wants out, he'll find a way on his own. But until then, you need to butt out. Wouldn't want to make him choose who he loves more, would you?" With that, he gives me an "encouraging" slap across the face and walks away, back to the living room where my best friend and grandparents are.
I grab the desert that Jack and I had offered to get from the kitchen and take it to the living room where Jack is passing the plates and utensils around. He looks up at me with a smile on his face and a glare in his eyes. I send him a glare and set he desert on the table. It's my grandfathers homemade banana cream pie. He makes it a lot, so you can see why I like it so much.
My grandmother serves me a large piece and I thank her with a smile.

My grandmother knocks before entering. "Hey, are you okay?" She asks as she sits beside me on the bed.
I shake my head and tell her what I know is happening with Kacy.
My grandpa eventually joined us and told me that I could only do so much as his best friend. If I talk to him and he doesn't want to listen, then he doesn't want help. Then I should leave him alone.
But I can't do that. I can't just leave it at that.

"What did you call me here for in the middle of the night?" He asks in a tired voice as he yawns and rubs his eyes.
I sigh. Maybe this could've waited until tomorrow. No! I couldn't even sleep because of it. "I know what he does to you," I state, waiting for his reaction.
What happened next was something I didn't expect. He got very angry.
"I don't know why you're talking about! He doesn't do anything, but love me!" Now I know that my assumptions were correct.
"I know he hits you, Kacy! I've seen the bruises! The black eyes! I know for a fact that you don't get that from swimming! How stupid do you think I am?" I yell, getting angry as well.
His face turns red with rage. "You're exactly as stupid as I thought! You have no right to butt into my business, Reeve!" He never calls me that. He calms down and his face becomes plastered with seriousness. "Are you jealous that I'm not spending time with you anymore?"
I stand there, shocked. My eyes tear up. How could he look at this as jealousy? "What the fuck? No! I'm worried about my best friend living with his abusive boyfriend! Kacy, if he's threatening you-" I couldn't finish because I felt a sudden pain bloom from my left cheek. My head whipped to the side and I could almost drown in the silence as not one of us moved. Something's wrong. He...slapped me.

"He left after that without saying another word."
He sighs and groans. "I'm sorry, Reeve. From what you've told me about him, you guys were as close as twins."
I chuckle. "Yeah, well, not all twins are close."
He snorts. "I guess you two have proved that."
We both laugh.
"Okay. Let's get back to the game. That should take your mind off things even for a little bit," he says.
I smile and agree with him.
We get back to kicking ass on Modern Warfare 3.
After hours of playing, I decide to log off and get on my laptop instead. An idea popped into my head as I was playing.
I went to Google and after about 30 minutes of searching, I finally found the program I've been looking for. I sign up for it, giving the necessary information. Hopefully, I'll get a reply soon. I really need this.
