Well fuck. What the hell am I supposed to do now! The most glorious man I have ever laid eyes on is being hauled off to the hospital. And now I have to deal with the fact that I never really got over him. I had that shit bottled up for so long, it's gonna make a mess now.
Lacey, darling girl that she is, slaps me across the face. "Frank Iero, you pull yourself together this instant! I know you still have feelings for him but reconnecting could be a really bad idea!"
"I know, but what if he came back to say he's sorry for breaking my heart and he wants to get back together but he got hit by a car on my street before he could tell me?" I said.
She rolled her eyes and said, "He's way to old for you and you know from experience he isn't the best boyfriend"
"What do you mean he 'isn't the best boyfriend'?"
"He's a lying whore who cheated on you with some trashy blonde bitch who spreads her legs for anyone with a pulse!"
"Wow, Lacey tell me what you really think!"
"I think he's a bad influence on you, even more so than I am!"
"But he's my bad influence!"
"No he's not! Not anymore!"
"I'll bet he's changed!"
"How do you know? He's only been here a minute and we're already fighting!"
"Don't try and blame this on him! You were the one who slapped me!"
"Don't try to pin this on me! I'm just trying to help you out!"
"Why?"
"Neither one of you were in a good place for a relationship last time and I don't want to see you get hurt again!"
"Guess what, sweetie! I don't need your help!"
"Don't come crying to me when you get your heart stomped on!" she said as she stormed off. A blue convertible pulled up next to her and the girl driving wolf whistled at her.
"Hey baby, you look like you need a ride" the chick driving said.
Lacey looked back at me and said,"Yeah, I guess I do"
I took a step forward and said,"Lace, I know you're mad but I don't think this is a good idea. Trust me, I'm your friend and I just want to help" As soon as the words left my mouth I knew I had made a mistake I said, "Lacy, don't -"
She cut me off by yelling,"Guess what, Frank? I don't need your help" She sneered at me and defiantly walked around and got into the car.
The girl driving grinned at me like ha-ha-I-got-your-girl and drove off so fast her tires squealed.
I sighed and went home. I wrote a letter to Lacey apologizing for our fight and stuck it in the window to her bedroom. I knew she'd see it and we'd talk it out before school tomorrow.
But for now, it was time to blatantly ignore her advice. I fished some money out of my pocket and walked to the bus stop. I jumped on, paid the bus driver, and sat in the corner waiting for my stop to arrive. I hopped off and thanked the driver.
I walked into the hospital and the lady at the front desk saw me.
"Hello, darling. What can I help you with today?" she said as she smiled up at me.
"Hi", I said,"I was wondering if you could tell me about a Mr. Gerard Way."
"Okay, just give me a second" she said as she tapped away at her computer. "It looks like he's in the ER right now. He's stabilized but he's got a few broken ribs and his leg is completely fractured. He's scheduled for surgery in about an hour"
"When would I be able to see him?"
"Let me check on that. Is he a friend of yours?"
"Something like that"
"Okie dokie, looks like he's cleared for visitors in three days"
"Thank you, miss. Have a nice day" I said as I walked out.
Okay. He's going to be okay. In three days, I'll show up with a card and some balloons and I'll talk to him about us.
In the meantime, I'm going to go home and wait for my mom to come home so we can watch American Horror Story.
I decided to walk home as the sun is setting and it's nice and peaceful. I walk by a 7/11 and I see Lacey and her driver buying Mountain Dew and Takis. It's the first time I got a good look at the girl driving. She's tall and has short brown hair. She looks Filipino. She's wearing a leather army jacket and fingerless gloves. She looks like a steampunk dyke. If that's a thing. They come out of the store and I dive behind a bush. I'm not being creepy at all.
They pull out of the parking lot and up to a light. As soon as it turns, they screech off. Lacey's long, long, brown hair streaming in the wind. I can hear them both laughing and I wonder if Lacey ended up being gayer than she originally planned.
After deciding that I ship it, I walk the rest of the way home. My mom's still not there so I open up the fridge and reheat some pizza. I turn on the t.v. and it's not long until my mom pulls into the driveway.
She throws open the door and sits down next to me. She kicks off her shoes and shakes her short, brown, curly hair free of its bun. She grabs a piece of pizza and kisses me on the cheek. "So, how was school?" she says. I tell her about briefly about Leviticus and then about Gerard and the car crash.
"Oh no, that's horrible! You two were such good friends before he moved away" she says. She knows about my gayness but is the most oblivious person I have ever met. "Well, we'll have to go see him before he gets out of the hospital. I wonder what he's doing back in town" she adds.
"Yeah, I already checked at the hospital. They said we can see him in three days"
After watching American Horror Story, I decide to go half ass my homework. It's about 10:00 and the note on Lacey's window hasn't been moved. She should be home by now. Her parents are there. They're probably asleep on the couch after a long day at work. She'll come back eventually if steampunk dyke doesn't talk her into robbing banks and terrorizing America.
After I finish my homework its like 11 and she still isn't back. It's not like her to be out this late. I hope she didn't get in trouble. I dick around on the internet for an hour or so and then go to sleep.
