was going to be one chapter but ended up being too long
"So what happened before I picked up a cute drifter like you?"
"Uh uh, I refuse to unload any more of my problems on you"
"C'mon I love your stories"
"You've only heard one!"
"And it was so good, I wanna hear another"
"Okay", I said with a smile,"How about you take me to 7/11 and then I'll tell you the rest of the story"
"Deal"
"Okay let's go"
Rosie turned up the radio and sang along. I pulled my hair out of the mandatory braids it had been in and let it be free. We pulled into 7/11 and got slurpees and those hi-chews. Rosie stole some of the creamer from the coffee station and put it in her bra. I laughed and threw a sugar packet at her. She caught it and stuck her tongue out at me. We paid for the stuff and ran out to the car. I tried to jump in without opening the door and fell into Carmen's lap. I struck a seductive pose and grinned up at her and she laughed and shoved me off complaining that I had cooties from my gay boyfriend.
I sat up laughing as she pulled out of the parking lot and up to a red light. As soon as the light turned, she hit the gas way harder than she should've and we shot forward.
I laughed and my hair flew out behind me.
Rosie turned to me and said,"You look so majestic right now. I feel like we should be on a mountain road somewhere".
"You know, I've always wanted to go on a road trip over the mountains. Maybe head over to Cali and soak up the sun" I said.
"Sounds like a plan" Rosie said.
"A plan?"
"You can call it a date if it makes you happier"
"Only couples go on long road trips together"
"Then I guess we'll just have to be a couple, now won't we?"
"If you want 7/11 to be our first date, then we might already be"
"First of all that doesn't count, you coerced me into going. Second of all, we can do better."
"So when is this first date going to happen?"
"Right now"
"Whatever shall I do if my father were to find out I was out on the town with a ruffian like you?" I said in a distressed southern belle voice.
"Move back to the 1920's?" she said while raising and eyebrow.
She laughed and I pretended to be offended.
"Well I never! My grandfather was born in that decade, you scoundrel, you!"
Again, she laughed.
"Well Ms. my-father-shall-hear-of-this, how about I make it up to you by taking you to the rose garden where you can tell me how a respectable girl like you ended up in a roguishly handsome ruffian's car"
"Okay"
A few minutes later, we were at the rose garden. I hadn't been there in so long I almost forgot how much I loved it. All the beautiful roses were lit up with the golden light from the setting sun. The beautiful scent from the petals wafted towards us on the warm breeze. I inhaled deeply and immediately relaxed. I smiled gently and looked around the garden. There were so many different kinds of roses and different colors and different fountains and statues around them. I turned around to say something to Rosie and caught her staring at me.
