Hey, this is my first time writing anything, so there will probably be a bunch of mistakes and stuff, so if you guys spot any, please tell me. The story might get a little confusing because I keep changing viewpoints. Most of the time it'll in third-person, but some chapters will be in first person, just a heads up.
All characters, places, and stuff were up by me. All characters and things came from my imagination.
Thank you for taking the time to look at this. Hope you enjoy the story.

Prologue
A thousand years from now, the earth will die.
A thousand years from now, we will kill the earth.
The air will become too smoggy to breath in, filled with poisonous clouds at times. All the water will turn to acid; becoming completely undrinkable. Nothing will grow, for the itself soil will be dead void of any and all nutrients. The animals which once ruled the earth, will die as the land dies and stops supporting them. Storms, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, blizzard and supersonic winds will ravage the surface of the earth.
And yet, we are still here. Unable to change the fate of our home, unable to flee to another planet, we are slowly dying out. No longer do we rule over the earth, as we fall from our thrones, and are set on the same level as every other living creature. All of us striving and struggling for the same thing; survival.
A thousand years from now, only three groups of humans will remain:
Those who had enough money to buy supplies and build a durable shelter.
Those who were created in an attempt to see if human cross-breeds had a higher chance to survive in such a harsh environment.
A thousand years from now, the human race will experiment on itself in an attempt to survive. These people are half human and half animal. They are stronger and faster than normal humans and also have the natural abilities of those animals they have been combined with. This gave them a better chance of surviving but, even they cannot survive on this destroyed planet, that can no longer support even the simplest organism.
The last group, has survived because they rediscovered that which everyone believed to have never existed.
A thousand years from now, we will rediscover magic.
As it had become increasingly evident that the earth was going to die, people had tried to get back to nature, in a desperate attempt to return things to the way they should be. In the process, they discovered many things that they had never noticed before. But only those who really looked, ever found the magic that was hidden within the earth.
They were the ones who relearned magic and were finally able to open a portal to the world know as "Avalon", centre of all the magic in the universe. Within this world we found every creature whom we'd ever called "nothing but a myth."
Unicorns, phoenixes, sphinxes, griffins, Pegasi, harpies, fairies, nymphs; and at their head, dragons. Powerful, noble, and kind. They use magic to take on human form and talk to the creatures which they had not seen in such a long time. We pleaded to be saved, and they listened to us, granting us save haven in their world.
They opened portals all over the earth, anywhere a large gathering of humans could be found. Seeing our salvation, we fled into the interconnected worlds of magic.
Upon entering this realm, those who had survived because of the money they'd had and the things they'd bought, learned how to use magic and soon earned a reputation for themselves in this world. Their magic, however, was weak and they can only control one or more four elements. Fire, water, earth, and air. They became know as "Pure Breeds," a name they gave themselves as a statement against the recombinants who had also managed to escape, who were never quite a 100% human. Though the name they were given by the creatures of this world was "Humalia."
The recombinants were unable to learn magic, but the natural talents of their non-human DNA was enhanced. So that they became faster, stronger, and in every sense "superhuman." They continued to look mostly human, the only differences in their appearance from that of the Humalians, are their animal ears, tails, textured skin, wings, or such other characteristic. Because they are not a 100% human they are often made fun of. This is where the nickname "Half-Breeds" came from. The pure breeds who could now use magic mocked the recombinants with the horrible name. However, not all recombinants see it as an insult. There are the ones who are proud of their abilities, as they should be. The name this group was given was "Animalious."
Lastly, there are those who were able to use magic. These humans, who had found this world on there own, were invited to stay in Avalon. The many magical creatures that lived there, saw them as curiosities. For such young creatures to have learned to use magic was seen by all as an incredible feat. These humans became like pets to the ancient creatures, things with which the creatures could amuse themselves. Eventually, these pets started becoming more and more important to their master. Until it became rather common for any creature that could take on human form, to marry a human.
From these marriages came the Mages. Half human, half magical creature, and able to use great magic. Like the Animalious, they look mostly human, but are marked by something odd. In the Mages case, it is called a magi. A physical characteristic much like that of the recombinants. For example, anyone of dragokin is likely to have wings, scaled skin, or the extra organ that allows them to breath fire.
Although human in appearance they will have the characteristics of their monster parent. Mages are often stronger than their monster parent. This is because they have both a full set of human emotions and imagination; making their magical capabilities much greater than that of either of their parents.
In some places they are considered to be noble and honourable even by the Humalia, in other places their considered to be no better than them, and in others yet they are hated by Humalia and honoured by Animalious. Because of a Mages natural magical ability, all those who were able to change into human form married a human to ensure the survival of their race by taking on a more dominantly magical form. All those who could not take on human form, were of the lower branches of their race and remained unable to climb to higher ranks within their tribes. These became familiars for the Mages, known as "daijmons."
Over time, humans spread out throughout the realms.
And a thousand years later, we are now once again the dominant race. Even though we are no longer fully human...
