Intro

This is just the chapter that explains things, because I'll probably forget to explain them later; as well making it easier for anyone who's reading this, to understand the story. Seriously, don't skip this. If you don't read it, it'll be harder to understand stuff.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well that's the ancient history of this realm anyway. Hi, I'm here to explain some important to all you humans. So you better pay attention!

Ok, now I should probably explain how things work around here. But, uh... where do I start? There's a lot of stuff...

How about I start by explaining where here is.

This is Dream Heart. Actually, that's what the humans named it when they first got here. The real name was lost a long time ago. All the original letters are still in the name, but there jumbled and now one has any idea what the right order is. Anyway, Dream Heart a bunch of interconnected worlds with Avalon at its centre, like the capital of a country, I suppose. The worlds are connected by invisible roads made of magic, they can only be opened by using a portal. There are about 256 different worlds in Dream Heart. Some are huge, some are small, some are populated, and others aren't. Each has its own environment. But all run on the same measurement of time and all have the same season at the same time. Makes life a lot easier if your travelling, no jet lag or anything, it's awesome.

Next, how time works around here, let's go from smallest to largest, shall we? There are sixty seconds in a minute. A hundred and twenty minutes in an hour. Seventy-two hours in a days. Ten days in a week. Although it varies from world to world, there are generally thirty hours during the day, thirty hours of night, and six hours of twilight at both sunset and sunrise. Ten weeks in a month. Twelve months in a year. So all together there are three-thousand six-hundred days in a year. Just to put that into perspective for you, that's 21600 earth days, or about 59 years! Meaning that we basically live forever, well by normal human standards anyway.

Next, what language do we speak here? A very good question. The answer: the main languages from earth. Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, German, Dutch, Russian, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, a few others, and of course English. Any accents that came with these languages are still around, not sure why, but hey can't solve every great mystery.

The original language of Dream Heart, however, is what we dubbed Dream Whisper. Clearly creativity was kinda dead when we named all this stuff. Anyway, it's the language of magic. It's used to cast spells, that are either really complicated or need a lot of power. Not many speak it fluently, but there are a couple who do. These people mainly live in Avalon, just like yours truly.

Each world has its own preferred language which I suppose you would call their official language.

Guess I better talk about magic next, seeing as how that's the big one. Oh boy, I hope you have a couple minutes cause this is a long one! Ok, here I go!

When we came to Dream Heart, we became so much more than human. We are made up of 5 parts: body, heart, soul, mind, and aura.

Body's same as always, physical being. Mind is thoughts, common sense, memories (to an extent, being just the recollection of the events that happened), and the control centre of the body. Aura is life force, the energy produced by someone that says: "still living and kicking!" It powers your magic and will sometimes protect you, though once it becomes depleted your in danger of dying. But only if you've used too much.

Now the complicated stuff, heart and soul. These are hard to explain because the line between them is often blurred. Not to mention the fact that's the relationship between heart and soul is different for all 3 classes of humans. Argh, I don't want to, but I guess I to. For you guys. Albright then, let's try and explain this!

On its own, the heart is what keeps you alive, it also determines how strong you are. Contained within the heart is the soul.

Soul is personality, emotions, and memories (again, to some extent, it's kinda of like the emotions and feelings within a memory). It's also what allows you to do magic.

Together, they make up a person's letlatos. What is that you ask? In Dream Whisper, the word Latos(heart) and Letos(soul) can be put together, to create the word Lelatos; which can be translated into the word: Soul-Heart.

(I swear those are the easiest words to say in this damn language!)

Moving on, a Lelatos is what you get when a heartcrystal is combined with a soul. The soul takes on a physical being as a small crystalline heart that is hidden within the actual heart of a person. Only Mages have these, this is what allows them to use such great magic. Since only Mages have them, they're referred to as letos, since they contains magic and it helps distinguish between soul and heart. It's also a Mage's greatest weakness. If someone takes their letos, then that person has total control over the Mage whom the heart belongs to.

Pure breeds have a lot of soul but not much heart, this is why they can use magic but not the really potent stuff. Their hearts aren't strong enough to support strong spells. They'd get a heart attack if they tried anything that was too much for them. No seriously, they'd get an actually heartattack!

Half breeds have a ton of heart but not a lot of soul; this being because they are part animal. Having a lot of heart is why they're so physically strong but, they're lack of a large amount of soul is why they can't use magic.

Magic is done by using both your soul and mental power to turn your aura into a physical form so it can do whatever you want it to.

Wow, that's a long winded explanation! I've got to come up with a better to explain this stuff,

Whatever, next up, Daijmon. Daijmon's are a Mage's familiar. Daijmon means soul creature, which is technically what they are. You are bound to your daijmon through some serious magic, that even I can't explain, so don't ask. Your daijmon lives as long as you do. They protect you, help empower your magic, and keep you company; or in some cases, annoy the hell out of you!

Some can talk, so yeah option number 4 is a pretty big one.

Well, that's pretty much all the basic stuff you need to know.

For those of you who are wondering who I am, allow me to introduce myself: I am Beelp, nice to meet you! For those of you who are already pronouncing my name incorrectly, here's how you pronounce it: Bee + eel + p = Beelp.

I've got a long and boring history, that I really don't feel like explaining at the moment, so here's what you need to know: I'm 14, I'm a Mage, I'm of dragon clan, and I'm princess of Avalon.

Actually, just forget the last thing, it's irrelevant. I'm just the person who got caught up in this mess; and had to clean it up no less!

This is the story of how me and my friends: got into a ton of trouble, destroyed a few things, kicked a couple people's asses, and basically saved all of Dream Heart.

Hope you can sit through all my random ramblings.
