The wind pushed my hair around my face as I walked down the darkly lit street. I dug my hands deeper into the pockets of my hoodie. I shivered slightly, the cold wind blew harder and I gave up, pulling my hood onto my head blocking some of my hair from being pushed around my face, a few strands still getting affected by it. I looked up at the night sky and my eyes were drawn to the brightest star there and I felt a tear slide down my cheek.

“I love you mum” I whispered still looking up to the star, I looked down into the street ahead of me hesitating. It had been weeks since I ran away from home, but I knew I should return, so I wouldn’t cause any further stress to my father, he hasn’t been the same since mum died… I turned into the familiar street and walked down the road, towards the house that I had once loved, which now I hate.

Once I reached my house I bent my knees and reached under the doormat, pulling out a key smiling faintly.

“Same old dad” I laughed softly as I stood up jamming the key into the keyhole turning it, as it unlocked I opened the door and the familiar smells of dad’s aftershave hung in the air and I dropped my small bag onto the floor, sliding my hood down off my head. “Dad” I called out and I heard a grunt come from the lounge room, so I walked over to the lounge room. I was shocked at what I saw, my dad was fastening a rope to the ceiling and I saw the unmistakable circle loop at the end of the thick material, “DAD NO!!” I yelled running towards him as he slid his head into the hole, stepping off the chair.

“I love you Alexia” he whispered and I stood there in shock for a second and tried to get the chair under his feet again, but he thrashed about, his muscular legs colliding with my stomach, winding me and I was knocked over, I gripped my stomach, as the pain spread around the area as I heard my dad choking. I stood up shaking as I gripped the couch for support, I struggled over to my dad and started untying the knot, I moved as fast as I could, but as soon as the knot was undone, it was too late… My father’s limp body fell to the ground and my knees caved underneath me, as I collapsed beside him, tears streaming down my face, burning into my heart.

“I love you dad, I’m so sorry that I left. I was stupid to do that” I whispered into his ear, hoping that where ever he was, he could hear it. I stood up, tears running down my neck, onto the collar of my hoodie as I cried, it made the material wet “it’s my fault” I whispered… Then I went into my room, leaving the untied rope hanging from the ceiling. Once I reached my room I pulled out my throwing knives then went to my dad’s bedroom, getting a few credit cards and about $1000 cash. I went back into the hallway bending my knees until I was kneeling on the ground and I put the throwing knives, credit cards and cash into my bag. I went back into my room and pulled out some black skinny jeans, a purple t-shirt with skull and crossbones printed onto the fabric, my Pikachu hoodie and some purple converse and I changed into them, throwing my other clothes on the floor. As I left the house, I looked at my dad’s lifeless body one last time and blew a kiss to him “I hope you and mum meet up” I whispered as I left the house, shutting and locking the door behind me.
