I pulled my hood over my head, keeping most of my hair inside the sheltered area, as I walked back down the street my head hanging low, then I looked up to see the blaring lights of a car. BEEP!! BEEP!! BEEP!! Went the horn of the car, as it swerved out of my way, it stopped just behind me and it did a U-turn and drove up beside me.

“What the hell is your problem dude” the driver said. I just gave him the cold shoulder “hey!! I’m talking to you” he said a bit louder and I turned to him,

“What” I said calmly.

“You’re walking in the middle of the road” he said his voice softening.

“Road?? You care about me walking on the road” I muttered.

“What” he said obviously confused, I stopped walking and he stopped the car and I turned to him.

“WHO CARES ABOUT THE DAMN ROAD, WHEN PEOPLE ARE DYING IN THEIR HOMES MORE OFTEN THEN BY CAR ACCIDENTS!!” I screamed at him and in a huff I turned the corner, walking faster away but he slowly followed me. I stopped suddenly and turned to face the bright lights of his car “you want to help me??” I questioned.

“Yeah, I guess so” he shrugged

“Then go away” I growled at him but to my luck he got out of the car and grabbed my arm,

“You shouldn’t be walking around in the streets, this late at night or you might get hurt” he pleaded “come with me, I wouldn’t be able to sleep knowing someone might be hurt” I looked at him bewildered

“Then why do you sleep at all?? People are hurting all over the world this very minute, people in third world countries don’t get all the nice things we do” I said.

“I-I d-didn’t mean…” he started to say but I put my hand up to stop him,

“Save it” I simply said pulling my arm from his grip, walking off digging my hands deep into my pockets, as I left him standing there in complete shock.

As soon as I turned the corner I started running, I didn’t know where to but all I knew is that I needed to run and get away from this town, all my hated memories were here and I could never truly break free until I had left. I faced one challenge which I knew I wouldn’t leave without getting scarred for life, I saw my dad die and my mum died for me so I knew there was no escaping the fact I would be hunted down by police, because I was their daughter and they knew nobody else would enter the house and untie my father who was now on the floor lifeless.
