I message Alfie as soon as I go home. Surely he must be happier now.
Zoe:Hey x
Alfie:Hey x
Zoe:How r u? x
Alfie:Im good thnx. Wbu? x
Zoe:I'm great thanks x

Zoe:👍🏻
Zoe:Did you hear about the news? x
Alfie:What news? x
Zoe:The news that everyone knows bout our audition? x
Alfie:Yh I heard x
Zoe:How do u feel? x
Alfie:Embarrassed, paranoid, anxious, scared, isolated😞x
Oh fuck! He doesn't want everyone to know about the audition. I hate my life. I bloody do. I bet that'll be the news of the school now, won't it?
Zoe and Alfie audition for the school's singing show!
Fucking hell.

Alfie:How do u feel? x
Zoe:I don't really mind but I'd prefer if only the people me and u chose would know about it, not the whole fucking school!! x
Alfie:But it's not the whole school, it's only our year and a few other people x
Zoe:Yh but word will get out to the whole school x
Alfie:Mm suppose x

I entered the school grounds. Anna doesn't notice me, she's too busy talking to Tan, Louise and Niomi.
"Hi girls!" I say to them. They all ignore me. The four of them. Even Anna.
"Anna, Tanya, Niomi, Louise!"
They all look at me when I say there name.
"Oh, hi Zoe," Anna says, then turns around to the group.
"Hi Zoe," the three girls say one after the other. They just ignore me after that and continue speaking. I go straight to form because there's nowhere else to go. I bump into Lisa.
"Zoe!" she gasps. I look at her and smile. Finally! Someone who actually makes the first move.
"Hey Lisa," I greet her.
"Hey girl hey!" she corrects me.
"Oh yeah, soz," I apologise sassily. "Hey girl heyy!"
Lisa loves "hey girl hey" as a greeting so that's what I do.
"What's been happening?" Lisa asks me.
I sigh. "Don't ask."
"How, what's wrong?" she frowns at me.
"Everyone is angry at me and Alfie for auditioning for the singing show. They say that we are "better" than that and can achieve more things than just boring old singing," I explain.
"Singing ain't boring! Besides, me and Shane are auditioning for it too," Lisa replies.
"So I heard," I reply. "Apparently that's how the word of mine and Alfie's audition got out," I say to her.
