A man welcomed us as we entered the casino-slash-hotel. He asked for our weapons, but I had stashed everything but knives (for Xavier and I) earlier. There was no way they'd allow weapons inside of such a public place, unless they had guards, like the Atomic Wrangler did. I let him search me for weapons, and when he found none, he let Xavier and I through.
I look around until I see black and white.
That's the man who killed me.
The guy who had my delivery.
The one who was about to live his last day.
I walk up to him, acting as innocent and fragile as possible, even making a small scene of knocking into one of the gambler, who cursed at me.
I approach him, pretending to admire him. He sees me and his face drains of all color.
"Woah, smooth moves, let's keep this in the groove..." he says under his breath towards me. He smiles his shark smile, but he's obviously too nervous to completely be himself.
"Last time we met, you ran off so fast, I never caught your name," I replied, adding a small smile as well. The Chairmen around us chuckle and move away, winking at the Checkered-coat man.
"You making a pass at me, sister?" Checker man asked, cocking an eyebrow to the air, "'cause you're way out of my league."
(This is an alternative Lady Killer option I made up because the "carry your package" one sounded extremely cheesy.) "Really? I can prove you wrong, if you'd like," I replied, still smiling. The man's eyebrows lifted practically off of his face.
"This ain't forgiveness, this is something..." The man paused, searching for the right word, "wrong." He paused again, looked around, then took out a key.
"Thirteenth floor. My suite. Five minutes," he said, pressing the key into my palm. He walked away and I began to follow him. Xavier stood where I had just stood, mouth hanging open and eyes bulging. I had not told him that this was part of my "Expert Plan of Smarticle Particles" (long story of which will be explained later). I grinned at him and mouthed "it'll be fine. Follow behind me."
We reached the elevator and the man turned to me, half-grinning.
"I still haven't heard your name," I told him, grabbing his hand and getting into the elevator, dragging him behind me. I close the elevator just as Xavier turns the corner to the elevator.
The man laughs, then says, "My name's Benny. Remember that well, pussycat."
Ugh. Even his pickup lines make me want to kill him.
"Oh, I will," I tell him as the elevator stops on the thirteenth floor. I continue to follow him to his room and I unlock the door. He walks in first and I toss the key into one of the planters and close the doors behind me. I lock it and put on my façade of weakness. I sit down on one of the couches as he pours wine into glasses.
The plan has begun.
Benny walks to me and hands me a wine glass, and sits next to me. He's still smiling when he faces me.
God, I hate that smile.
"So, pussycat, this here? This is probably the best night you'll have in your life," Benny says, practically purring.
Jesus, this feels so wrong. I hope Xavier won't be mad at me.
Why should he, though?
Jesus Christ.
"I'll make sure you have a good time as well," I reply, keeping up my innocence.
I hear three knocks on wood. The signal. Time to carry out my plan. I turn to Benny then climb on top of him, taking off my glasses and setting them on the coffee table. I start to unbutton his jacket while he starts taking off my leather jacket. I grab my knife before the jacket falls off of me, but Benny doesn't notice. I wrap my hands around his neck, making sure he doesn't see of feel the glint of metal. I open the pocket knife and begin to kiss him. He's surprised, of course, that such a nerdy-nerd girl would do such a thing, but he recovers quickly and wraps his arms around my waist and begins taking off my short-sleeved Ink Spots tee.
I undo his necktie and take it off of him with my free hand and unbutton his undershirt. He has a scar through the middle of his chest, and I touch it. I stop kissing him and start kissing his scar, as gently as possible.
He's completely distracted, so I take my knife and lodge it into the back of his head.
God damnit, he's a good kisser, but good riddance, he's dead.
I remove the knife and plunge it into his throat for good measure. I start to clean my knife and Xavier walks in to see me without a shirt, cleaning a knife.
"You decent?" he asks, looking at my bra.
"To raiders, sure," I respond, putting on my Ink Spots tee. I smile and look at him.
"At least you weren't naked," he replies, eyeing me carefully.
"I'm a goddess, though," I say, looking back at him.
"Hell, yeah," he says, brushing back his sweaty, black hair, "and this is the first time I can see you without glasses. Not too bad, actually."
I raise an eyebrow. "What?" I say, questioning him.
"Compliments, girl. Heard of them?"
"Not lately." I put on my glasses and grin at him. He doesn't respond. Fuck, he's serious. "What?" I ask again.
"Your glasses make you look nerdy, and your eyes are very pretty." Xavier keeps looking away, "But, you know, as friends."
"Right, okay, calm it down, Nerve Boy. Save it for the field."
"Reporting for duty, Miss Comeback."
I drag Benny onto his bed and make sure it looks like he stabbed himself.
Wasn't easy. You know, with two holes.
Aaaanyways, after that, I put on my leather jacket and walk to the elevator.
"So, you got revenge. What now, Miss Perfecto?"
"Dunno." I press the down button and press ground floor, "All I can say is," I turn to him, adjusting my jacket, "We've got a long road ahead."
