Harry, Hermione and Ron were sitting in the common room, starting on some homework they'd received for the holidays. Well, Hermione and Harry at least. Ron had given up trying to copy off Hermione and was playing a game of chess with Dean. Usually, Ron would be playing with Harry, but, merlin forbid, the boy was doing his homework. The holidays hadn't even started!

Truthfully, it was because of Hermione that Harry started doing his work better. She'd persuade him into doing it, seeing as he'd have to do well, staying with the two smartest in their year, that is, if he, Hermione and Draco were allowed to stay with their father. Harry got a funny feeling every time that happened. Father. His father was alive! He didn't have to spend the rest of his life without anyone to guide him, or help him with girl problems, or anything else! Harry smiled, glancing at Hermione, who was concentrating on her potions essay, He even had a sister, and a brother! True, it was Draco Malfoy, but hey, he'd been as mean to Draco as Draco had been to him, so they were even. Yawning, Harry looked back at his charms essay. Time to get started.

Draco sighed, rubbing his head. Pansy had been squealing non-stop for the past hour about how she was going to Paris for the summer and how she'd miss her 'Drakey-poo' so much and all that shit. Draco was just happy he wasn't going back to Malfoy manor, well, he hoped. Living there was a nightmare. With fathe-ahem, Lucius spouting a bunch of pureblood shite, Narcissa blindly following the man around like a puppy, and basically being raised by house elves, Draco was completely sick of being a Malfoy.

He looked over at Blaise, who was sniggering at Pansy's rant. Honestly, the girl was terrible! Draco shot a glare at the boy, who simply smirked.

"Hey, Pansy," the dark-skinned boy turned to Pansy, "What did you say your holiday home looked like again?"

And off the girl went, chattering madly. Blaise was going to pay, that's for sure. Draco groaned internally and grabbed a quill and some parchment. He might as well start some homework, it seemed like Pansy was going to take a while.

Harry woke up early, around 7:00, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't get back to sleep. It was the last day of school, meaning the Hogwarts train would be leaving at around eleven o' clock. Harry had everything packed, so he didn't need to be up early, but he showered and got dressed and went to the common room to read for a while. He had found some muggle fiction books in the library and he'd taken them out for a few days. Reminding himself to leave them back before they left Hogwarts, he curled up in an armchair, a stack of brightly coloured books beside him.

Hermione woke up at 7:40, before any of the others in her dorm were awake. Going into the bathroom, she took a shower and got dressed, brushing her bushy hair in an attempt to tame it. Strolling down into the common room with a book in hand, she was surprised to see Harry already down there.

"You're not usually up this early, Harry." She stated, taking a seat on the couch beside him. He looked up and smiled. "Couldn't sleep." He replied. She grinned at him. "You too? I'm so excited, I can barely wait!" They chatted for a while about anything that came to mind, from their family to muggle books. At last, people started getting up, and tired people could be seen dragging themselves around lazily. Ron, however, still seemed to be in bed. As the people around them began to fully wake up, Harry and Hermione grew quiet, not wanting to talk about their private secrets in front of a large crowd. They resorted to reading again, and Hermione was so absorbed in her book, that she didn't notice that a lot of time had passed. She was only dragged out of her fantasy book world when Harry shook her. "Come on, we should go get breakfast, it's nine,"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Harry sat down beside Hermione at the table, grabbing a slice of toast and pouring himself some pumpkin juice. He watched the rest of the students filing in, some only just awake, some just as chirpy as Harry and Hermione, who were positively buzzing. Taking another slice of toast and sipping his juice, he switched between eating and talking to Hermione. Finishing up, the two Gryffindors left the Great Hall, passing by Draco, sitting at the Slytherin table. Giving him a small smile, the duo returned to the common room.

At half ten, Harry was lying on the couch, halfway through the book he'd started earlier. Most people were up, and the common room was calm, full of quiet chatter and people relaxing before they departed to the train. At least until a red-headed blur came flying down the stairs. Ron was panicked, grabbing all of his things that he'd left lying in the room. "You haven't packed yet?!" Hermione admonished. "Ron! I told you to do it last night!"

Mumbling an apology, the boy fled back upstairs with a bundle of item in his arms. Sighing, Harry grabbed his book.

"Come on, we'd better get down to the train, it'll be leaving soon. We can save a carriage for us and Ron."

Five minutes before the train was due to leave, Ron rushed into the compartment, dragging his trunk behind him.

"Hey, sorry I'm late, had to get my things." He said, flopping down on the seat opposite Harry. Glancing up from his book, he muttered a hello and returned to his reading. He had finished the other book, which shocked Hermione ("You must be a really fast reader, Harry!") and Hermione had given him one of her favourite muggle books to read, Matilda. It was quite good too, and Harry wanted to finish it. But now that seemed to be impossible, seeing as Ron kept trying to talk to him. Finally, after a long time of attempting to block out Ron, the train arrived in King's Cross Station. Getting off the train, Harry said he was waiting for his uncle to arrive and Ron left with his family. Harry saw Hermione and Draco going to talk to their parents. After a while of talking with Severus (as they weren't allowed to call him professor, anymore) they'd decided to inform their parents. Harry would simply say he was staying somewhere else, his aunt and uncle wouldn't care. Mr and Mrs Granger never chose sides, they were simply told about the wizarding world and raised a witch. Her parents wouldn't know who Tom Riddle was. And though Draco's parents were strict and, frankly, terrible parents, they were close with Tom and so they wouldn't mind. After watching Hermione hug her parents and promise to keep in touch, and watch Draco say a quick goodbye to his parents (he'd probably be seeing them soon enough), Harry walked out through the barrier to meet his uncle.

"Where were you boy! I've been waiting for twenty minut-"

"Uncle Vernon," Harry interrupted. "I am no longer living with you, I'm going to live with a friend from now on." He looked at the man, only to see him already turning away. As revenge for treating him so unfairly, he shouted some insults at the man (and maybe sent a sly stinging hex or two- hey, the sorting hat did almost put him in Slytherin.) and went back through to meet the others. The platform was abandoned now, seeing as it was half an hour after the train had arrived. He walked over to where Hermione and Draco were standing, and he grinned at them.

"Look! Someone's coming!" Hermione pointed at two figures in the distance.

"Well, my dearest siblings, "Harry said, slinging an arm around his brother and sister, "Time to meet the parents."
