Flashback:

A young woman hobbles in the forest through the deep snow that is now up to her knees. She wears a long Victorian style Krystal blue ball gown and she clutches a thin shawl around her shoulders. The baby in her arms cries softly and she tries to comfort it by pulling her shawl around tighter. She seems to be trying to get somewhere but constantly keeps looking around her for fear that someone will be following. As she makes her way through the snow, she reminds herself that she is doing the right thing so that the baby may have a future. The forest suddenly comes to an end, and she stumbles across a snow laden road to a small cozy home. There are glowing lights on the bushes and you can see the faint glimmer of a Christmas tree in the window.

The woman lays the baby in a small basket and gently lowers it to the porch before giving it a kiss on the cheek. Her diamond blue eyes are filled with so much emotion as she weakly knocks on the front door and rushes back into the woods. She tries not to cry, but small frozen tears begin to fall as she watches a couple in their late 40's open the door and sweep the precious baby into their arms. They look out into the softly falling snow, then look up to the sky and thank God for the gift of a child.

The young woman stumbles back through the forest as her hair and eyebrows begin to frost, and she collapses into the snow. She lays there believing that there is hope for her little baby girl. She dies a peaceful death and slowly her head lowers into the soft and ever comforting snow. Her body is soon engulfed by the winter wonderland, and a faint smile will ever remain on the woman's face.

Sorry this is so short.  The next few chapters will be longer.  This is just the intro.
